DOJ sues Las Vegas casino for screening non-citizen workers

While proponents of immigration enforcement have been told that the federal government monitors the hiring of illegal aliens by the private sector, including adherence to the federal employment verification (I-9) program, Attorney General Eric Holder's Justice Department appears to have made a decision to penalize organizations that zealously comply.

For example, on Thursday the Justice Department announced that it filed a civil lawsuit against the Tuscany Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, accusing the company of engaging in "a pattern or practice of discrimination in the employment eligibility verification and re-verification process."

Whoa, Nellie. Sounds like a blatant mob war. I don’t think Chicago is going to win. YMMV, but I live in Vegas.

The Audacity of Corruption

Now the Justice Department equals the Legislature, along with the Executive Branch.

Absolute power.

We have an outlaw government. An openly outlaw government. We are constrained by law; they are not.

If they thoroughly investigate all applicants where's the problem? A quick trip to my safety deposit box would allow me to present any potential employer or any government official a US passport and a certified state birth certificate showing that I was born here.No problem. This sounds like an intentional undermining of the law requiring employers to screen applicants.

I know I shouldn’t be, but I will be greatly disappointed if the next administration does not throw hussein, holder and their merry band of criminals in jail.

This is the purported heart of the dispute:

The DOJ complaint alleges that Tuscany treated non-citizens differently from U.S. citizens during the employment eligibility verification and re-verification process by requesting non-citizen employees to provide more or different documents or information than required during the initial employment eligibility verification process, and demanded specific documents during the re-verification process.

The devil could well be in the details. But if a person is self identified as not a citizen wouldn't you then of course want a proof of his or her legal presence, before giving him or her access to the casino's dough? An SSN and government ID check could tell you: yes this person is a citizen, and there's no worry about his or her legal presence.

This is cocker mamie.

SOP of the left.

When a republican is in office, paralyze the DOJ to a point where they cannot do their jobs. When a rat is in office, use the DOJ as your police enforcement.

Bush should have fired every Clnton appointee and when the media whined about it, investigated them.

The very same DOJ that arrests/fines businesses for NOT screening.

Well, I guess if Obammy doesn’t need to show a real birth certificate and ss#, neither should they. /s

I'm fairly certain that all these ridiculous suits and actions by the DoJ are designed to distract us from the greatest government scandal in US history, "Fast & Furious."

And they're being remarkably successful at taking our attention away from a government operation that purposely trafficked firearms across international borders, directly arming criminal drug cartels (who are for all intents and purposes at war with the Mexican government), in order to generate "evidence" which was supposed to turn the American public opinion against gun ownership, and in effect, subvert the Second Amendment of the US Constitution. And as a result, hundreds, if not thousands, of Mexican citizens have been killed with those very weapons, but more to the point one, or possibly two federal agents have been killed with the weapons supplied to the drug cartels by our own government.

I agree. In addition, the next administration needs to cut off the obuma moochers from the taxpayer teat. No more food stamps, no more free rent vouchers, no more social security disability payments and no more crazy money for the kids faking DDT or whatever they call it now.

Holy Cow!

I thought the bastard was bad yesterday for telling Florida to stop purging its Rolls of illegal voters.

In earlier days this kind of stuff would have led to pitchforks, Tar and Feathers, or worse.

Watch for the series of pardons at the end of Obama's term to forestall just such an eventuality.
