President Bill Clinton ditched his Democratic talking points Thursday night, telling his TV interviewer that Gov. Mitt Romneys investment capital work qualifies him for the presidency.
This is good work Theres no question that a man who has been a governor and has a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold, he said on CNN.
Republicans hope that statement could deeply damage Obamas effort to paint Romney as unqualified and irresponsible, and a short portion of the interview was showcased Friday morning by emails from the Republican National Committee.
Clinton and Obama have been rivals since 2007, when Obama challenged and eventually defeated Hillary Clinton in the hard-fought Democratic primaries leading up the 2008 election. Without Obama, Bill Clinton would likely be in the White House as first spouse to President Hillary Clinton. (RELATED: Clinton gives Obama faint praise)
In the CNN interview, Clinton provided some support for Obamas argument that the 2012 election is a choice between the programs pushed by Romney and Obama, and not a referendum on the current president.
A referendum-style election could be problematic for Obama because the nation has suffered through record debts and deficits, record unemployment and sharp political divisions during his time in the White House.
For voters, Clinton said, the real issue ought to be what has Governor Romney advocated in the campaign that he will do as president, what has President Obama done and what does he propose to do.
Thats the most relevant thing.
Once Hillary's campaign debt was paid off, hate still runs deep.
The actual title manages to spell “Romney” correctly.
If BO were stupid enough to choose Hillary! for his Veep, he wouldn’t last six months. And she could choose her hubby as her Veep and the country would go gaga over having its favorite two-some in charge once again.
HRC is going to but more daylight between her and Obama than Secretariat had at Belmont.
BJ Cliton is ineligable to run for
Veep
Hmmmm, just wondering whether an inept, stupid felon like the Obamadork might not be better for us in the long run than an experienced, somewhat less stupid felon like Hillary.
Clinton of course thinks that his liberal buddy Romney with an “R” after his name is qualified. Both from the same cloth.
Slicks statements about Obama are tepid at best.
Let’s face facts - Øbozo redefined “qualified” to the point of irrelevancy.
Hillary is already quietly distancing herself from the Obama campaign and will probably announce her resignation (effective in January, 2013) about a week before the election, once she's sure Obama is going to lose and lose big. Then she'll write a book and make a few million more while President Romney angers conservatives and pleases the liberal media by appointing her or Bill to some prestigious (but relatively powerless) government position such as an ambassadorship to some pleasant but strategically unimportant country such as Belize. One way or another, Bill and Hillary, like cats, always land on their feet.
No, she couldn't.
According to the twelfth amendment of the Constitution, "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."
Having already served the maximum allowable two terms as President pursuant to the 22nd Amendment, Clinton is constitutionally ineligible to be President again.
Im so glad I could just f**t.
Clinton thinks Romney is “qualified?” And this is a good reference? Soros thinks he is okay, too. What are we electing?
Don't be shocked if when Bain Capital become an issue later, clinton changes his tune. He can point back to this statement in May to add credibility to his reassessment of Romney's qualifications.
Or a politically savvy and managerially competent socialist like Romney?
By saying that Romney is Qualified by being a governor and a successful business career isn’t Bill implying that Obama isn’t because he has had neither? Something is in the works, methinks,Maybe a coup within the DNC? Time to pop the corn and relax—next few months will be fun.
Remember the lesson Rick Santorum never learned. You don't have to answer every question asked.... and Slick knows that very well.
This was a conscious anti-Obama comment on his part.
Be well.
I know that Bubba can’t be on the ticket, but what does the Constitution say about a mid-term VP appointment? My guess is that he’d be ineligible because the VP has to be qualified to be President, but I don’t know enough about your Constitution to be sure.
“This was a conscious anti-Obama comment on his part.”
Sure was ! And he didn’t have to mention Romney’s “sterling” business record unless he meant to comparatively deride the bamsters less than sterling record.
The Clintons will do to Obama what Khrushchev did to the name of Stalin. After the 2012 democrat bloodbath they will have no choice, and the Clintoons will gleefully and churlishly pile on.
Can you just imagine all the mea culpa and anti-Obama books that will flood the market once he is dethroned? The man has no friends. Who will defend him? No one. It will be in no one’s interest to do so and certainly not in the democrat party’s interest.
Obama will become just what he is now. A man without a country.
You're reading way too much into clinton's statement.
