Dover, The Monster Mile. The Grinder. Sunday. if it don't rain.
Welcome to this week's Nascar at FR race thread! This Week - The FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks at Dover June 3, 2012 Dover International Speedway Race Menu for the weekend series Dover International Speedway The way to best illustrate the early history of Dover International Speedway would be to look at the list of winners in the track's early years as a site for Cup racing. From 1969 through '80, 21 of the 22 Cup races at Dover International Speedway were won by drivers who either already had or would go on to win championships in NASCAR's top series. The names of those winners are part of the fabric of the sport -- Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Benny Parsons and Darrell Waltrip. Allison and Petty rank first on the all-time winner's list at Dover International Speedway with seven victories apiece. About 3,200 seats were added in 1982. Each following year until 1998, more seats were added. In 1995, the track's surface was switched to concrete -- making it the first all-concrete superspeedway in the sport. The unique look of the white concrete surface still makes Doverýs appearance unique among the sport's bigger tracks. Dover hosted the first Cup race held after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. Dale Earnhardt Jr. got the win that day and took a giant American flag on a victory lap. Dover race thread is up! Ping
Boogity, boogity the Monster
You are going to have seven (7) flat tires tomorrow morning...
Geez, I only got 5.
Will be relaxing in my recliner chair as I watch the Dover race. Beer and pretzels optional.
Got to remember to put beer in the fridge.
Thanks for the thread Norm. On the road but will be home for the race. Went to the Dover fall race last year and we froze our butts off. Great track & not so great state.
We are past due for several big ones. That bill might be paid at Dover.
Gardening is interfering with my Racin! Thanks for baby sitting the malcontents on these threads Norm. Truck race is on...
The stands are EMPTY for the truck race...
Home. Just in time for the cool down back in to the 50’s and 60’s. There’s even a chance of snow Tuesday night.
To bad about the empty stands; Dover is our favorite (visited) track w/Las Vegas 2nd. Easy to watch the entire track/race from the stands. The track does seem to be out in the middle of nowhere....maybe the Monster roams around at night?? Heck, Delaware seems to be out in the middle of nowhere. I doubt we’ll ever make it back there again.
Hi folks. Is the race gonna be rained out?
Beats me.. flip a coin.. they got blasted overnight but the track looks ok now as they qualify.. JJ on the pole so far.
uhh,, ol’timer Mark Martin just beat JJ’s time by 5 1,000ths to take the pole.. Oh My!
Martin on pole at Dover
Mark Martin went out last in qualifying and barely edged Jimmie Johnson's time to win the pole at Dover.
Martin circled the mile track in 22.74 seconds; Johnson was at 22.75.
Nationwide race should be OK..

What malcontents???
Here is one of them Norm...
YW! Enjoy the new diminishing race thread while it lasts!
This is likely the final season for me pushing these things out of the garage and on to a track of late with enough empty seats to make ‘em really tighten the camera shots.
After Homestead,, It’s Hasta La Vista Baby!
Alaska or Hawaii or someplace or Bust if I can convince wifey!
It’s Time for a new breed of pups to tap the keyboard and marshall the troops.. and folk always have the FR Canteen open 7 days a week.
‘Til Then, The smoking lamp is lit and the dance floor and wet bar are open.
Yep, the #’s have sure been down on these threads, eh? My excuse is that church and family obligations take up most of my Sunday’s during race times. Tivo allows speed-watching (w/o commercials) later Sunday evenings.
We’ve got plans for a much needed vacation to Hawaii, so maybe I’ll see you there...
