Every fat person I know drinks diet soda anyhow.

Then allow me to introduce you to me, a non fat person who prefers diet sodas. You may catch me sometimes consuming a ginormous meal and washing it down with a Diet Coke.

Also when traveling in the south, I amaze waiters by telling them I want unsweetened tea. I simply don't like the taste of sugary drinks.

All that being said, government has no business telling me what to drink or what not to drink.

I learned the hard way not to order “iced tea” when traveling in the south; no idea how anyone can drink sweat tea - nasty stuff. On the rare occasions I have a soft drink, I’ll have the real thing; as I also can’t stand the taste of artificial sweeteners.

I don't mind a sugar pack or two to cut the bitterness of some ice tea, but southern sweet tea tastes like they've pumped the entire annual sugar production of a Caribbean island into a cup and then added just enough tea to get it to partially dissolve.
