DENTON, Texas The Stars and Stripes go hand-in-hand with Memorial Day. But when a truck driver saw a truck stop that wasn't flying the American flag, he took matters into his own hands.
He put up a American flag himself. The problem is, it didn't stay up for long.
David Ray Thornburg couldn't understand why the Travel Centers of America truck stop off Interstate 35 in Denton wasn't displaying Old Glory especially on Memorial Day.
So he grabbed his video camera and went to Walmart. The store donated a flag. Thornburg went back to the truck stop, climbed up the pole and put up the flag.
His YouTube video tells the rest of the story. He explains that just after he put the flag up, truck stop employees took it down.
Thornburg called it a slap in the face.

How about "This is private property, get the fk out of here."
Yup and Obama could not have said it prouder.
good target for a boycott, probably has lots of competition.
Speedway/Marathon bought Gas America/TA earlier this year. The change-over was two weeks ago. Knowing Speedway, this does not surprise me.
They stopped flying the flag ten years ago.
I sure bet those trucker’s CB Radios were abuzz of what Travel Center of America thinks of veterans & Memorial Day.
What kind of reply was that????
Am all for staying the fk away from Truck Stops America!
Denton? truckstop was prolly run by some camel jockey.
Statement: The flag might offend anti-Americans.
What is a C.B. Radio?
The point of the story is they sent a paid employee to remove the flag on Memorial Day.
I think I see a complete story right there.
1) The Travel Center put up a flagpole, and flew the flag for years.
2) Then some jackwagon from the govt came and cited him for a tattered flag, and probably cited him for flying it at night without a light, etc.
3) Some ambulance chaser is waiting in the wings for this guy to break his arm trying to save mom and apple pie.
Perhaps the owners had lost faith in "the republic for which it stands" that elected a Marxist handing out bailouts to bankers and fraudsters while taxing him out the wazoo to fund condoms for college girls and threatening him with flag inspectors, liability suits, etc.
Perhaps it doesn't have a single thing to do with Memorial day, but do we really believe that those who sacrificed their lives for us would (a) do it over again if they knew what we've become and (b) even then, do you think they'd be gung-ho to tell this guy he had to fly a flag?
Wow you are so jaded.
The point of your post is to make it out that these people are anti-American. It just happened that some fruitcake was climbing their pole on Memorial Day.
In fact, the article makes the case that the country has become a caricature of itself overrun by lawyers and jingoists.
Yes. A small businessman with the jackboot of the government on his neck everyday makes you sympathetic to people who are depicted by lamestream media as anti-American corporate evildoers.
Jaded. Whatever.
