Would a solar eclipse be more verifiable as to the time of the crucifixion? Probably not, since eclipses don't cause a full 3 hours ...from the sixth hour until the ninth hour... of darkness.

If it was a solar eclipse, then it would have been truly a miracle. Solar eclipses as we know them can only occur during a new moon. Passover occurs during a full moon.
