The news is that the Click it or Ticket stepped up enforcement is started on Monday.
Even if you are wearing your seatbelt, that isn't any protection against a ticket.
Police can now stop you for no other reason than they say you weren't wearing it. This is the ultimate revenue generator.
On Twitter, the propaganda is in full swing @NHTSAgov #ClickItorTicket
The great Jerry Williams said we should replace seatbelts with velcro seatcovers.
Jerry, We all miss you.
If the “Click it or Ticket” cops like rhymes so much, just tell them: “Ticket? Go STICK IT!” LOL.
No (Washington). Not a one. And Washington does have a reasonably strict seat-belt law and active STATE enforcement. But I have seen zero about a national campaign working "with force of law" (as in random stops).
I have a frinend that got one in the parking lot of the apartments he lived in by a cop on a bicycle.
I am in Washington, I have seen the commercials every 30 mins today on the Sci-Fi Channel on Direct TV Satellite.
If you aren’t seeing them, click the link to watch the commercials so you know what we are talking about.

Click-It or Ticket Patrols
Washington State - Tri - Cities
This is a very good idea, I think you may be on to something
Wow! I’m glad the idiot didn’t overreact.
“When your grandpop was a cop, he was a Peace Officer. He was charged with keeping the peace.
Now, theyre LAW ENFORCEMENT and you WILL comply!!!”
Good point.
Remarkable!
My friend kept his hands in the open, and started talking about his brother in law, a detective on the force, and how he should call the station and tell them the address he was at.
Could have gotten very ugly. And if the cop WAS where he thought he was supposed to be, he should have noticed the hardware on the table.
ahh good old onstar..
A week ago Friday my wife was involved in a collision (other drivers fault) with air bag deployment (everyone is ok). Her van has onstar but we to do not pay for it. However, in Minnesota, it’s a felony to witness a collision and not stop or report it.
The van called in to onstar because of the deployment. The call was not routed to local police. It was simply ignored.
when I got the van home I pushed the blue button. They where happy to try and sell me service but would not comment on the call the system should have placed at the time of the collision.
The short of it, since it’s completely useless with out subscription a trip to your local library to use Alldata will tell you where the onstar box is. Unplug the damn thing.
All’s well that ends well.
Your grandfather sounds like a peace officer.
They are much rarer these days than they were in his day.
That’s what I’ve been told.
...and minor children would be pulled from their beds and held at gunpoint.
I fear it is only a matter of time before they decide to “up” their intimidation tactics once more.
I watch the SF Channel regularly. Have yet to see any such commercial (and that includes yesterday).
Your first link takes me to a very bad slide show which is virtually unviewable due to lousy choice of colors, and your second link takes me to a STATE program. I still am not seeing any indication that there has been the fundamental change in enforcement at the national level that you are suggesting has taken place.

U.S. Transportation Secretary LaHood Kicks Off Annual ‘Click It or Ticket’ Campaign to Increase Seat Belt Use
Somewhere along the course of the last thirty years, we were slowly turned into a police state (as cliched as it sounds).
They were ramping up, and we weren’t paying attention...and those of use that were paying attention, well, we just “crazy” and “paranoid”.
