The topic of women in combat has always been a touchy one. Many feel that while women should be allowed in the military, they do not belong in jobs that place them on the front line. Others believe that women are just as capable as men and should be given the opportunity to take on any role within the military.

Many Americans are starting to see war as a video game.
“I say that if any man has a problem with it, they are free to take their place.”
Nope. There are quotas to be met. We men do serve. We don’t want to serve with other troops not capable including women. We are also free to leave the military and let the women fight since we don’t want to be dead next to them.
I’ve done my time.
Your position is moronic.
“Anything else is just bravado from an easy chair.”
Kind of like the easy chair of 30+% of women getting pregnant during war time to avoid deployment, or getting pregnant to get off the ship, you mean that kind of easy chair?
I have no idea what that is about, or how it is part of my family's genealogy.
Women used to be restricted to 2% of the military, that allowed for Nurses, Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants in finance and such.
People forget that even daily non-combat work is not suited for females, digging entrenchments and fox holes, handling heavy things, replacing tracks and even truck tires, handling large cooking pots holding many gallons of food at more than 8 pounds per gallon, watch the females trying to handle and use those 50 pound Jerry cans of water or fuel, the list is endless. Either they can’t do it, or they need help, but even if it gets done, it is slower, more laborious, ties up more personnel, time and resources, now magnify that effect throughout the mass military, it is a diminishing of effectiveness and a reduction of per capita strength, suddenly “a fully manned crew of 220” doesn’t really mean exactly that, it means “a 220 count of people” with overall reduced capabilities.
We see all this in civilian life, sports, construction, the separation of duties and capabilities is so natural that we don’t even notice it, but we live by it, the military consists of all this, except much worse, it is rugged, outdoor living where everything is heavy and hard and requires muscles, and on the bad days, you have 6 foot Soviet paratroopers landing on your rear echelon troops ripping their throats out with their bare hands.
People don’t dwell on it, or ever really answer it, do the large muscle mass male wounded just remain on the battle field if there isn’t a fellow man available to grab him up and run with him?
Any country that sends its women to fight before it sends the non-shaving boys and its old men of “cane” age and older, is doomed.
Women should not be in combat-period!
BIG Mistake!
Causes men to compensate and protect, rather than focus on the mission.
No gays, no women.
When I toured an aircraft carrier here in San Diego during the 90s, I looked at those metal doors, the fire hoses, the ladders, the equipment, and I saw that it was no environment for women.
I remembered my dad's description of the conditions on his ship when it endured combat so harsh, and destructive that both the Americans and the Japanese recorded it as sunk. The conditions he described, and the effort delivered by the survivors among the crew that enabled them to stay afloat, seemed to consist of a sustained period of nothing but courage and men's muscle.
Once the attack started reshaping the environment of the ship, the natural order of things broke down, suddenly it took hand tools and muscle to make doors open, things move, to dig out the wounded, make repairs, to fight back, to steer the ship, to get ammunition to the guns, to put out fires, etc., the last thing they needed was to have replaced 50% of their crew with females before the war.
Great idea, if the enemy’s doing it.
How many babies have the US Navy Third Fleet listed as the father?
Apparently not ridiculous enough that if males fail to register they can be
barred from receiving certain federal benefits, employment and citizenship.
Illegal immigrant males of draft age, amongst others are required to
register.
On the subject of excempting women that is also out of date. They were exempted in the past per USSC in 1981, in Rostker v. Goldberg...
"The existence of the combat restrictions clearly indicates the basis for
Congress' decision to exempt women from registration. The purpose of
registration was to prepare for a draft of combat troops. Since women
are excluded from combat, Congress concluded that they would not be
needed in the event of a draft, and therefore decided not to register
them."
Not the case anymore!
Equality? Discrimination?
Comments anyone?
The American military will have to lower the standards (again). It’s going to be a miracle if we can win any war in the future.
I expect another Civil War. Maybe not tomorrow but at some point. A weakened Federal Army made up of fags and hags will be a less formidable foe to any Army raised by a state or states.
Correct (at least for draftees on active duty), by less than 6 months.
Airborne Ranger, Command Sgt. Maj. Jeff Mellinger, was our last draftee, he retired December 31st, 2011.
A double whammy: Gay and woman (see Post 36).
Yeah, ridiculous, after 40 years of it being nothing more than a little formality, you can call SS registration meaningless, there is no draft.
If we ever get a draft again, it will be used by the left to destroy the military, they will probably insist that it include females and homosexuals, and probably categories that we have not thought of.
