WHO told you he was from Kenya to begin with?
WHAT is your process for fact checking things you publish?
WHERE did the information that led you to publish his Kenyan birthplace come from?
WHEN were you informed of such?
WHY do you believe now that this was an error and can you produce any prior retraction?

Can ANY actual journalist currently working in the media please step up and ask these questions?

Absolute and utter BS. Every literary agency checks and rechecks basic facts about its authors. If they made a mistake on the first run, it gets corrected on the second. It doesn’t lay around for 17 years without being checked or revised.

A "simple fact checking error" doesn't sit there for 16 YEARS, as a simple statement of fact. You would presume that an author would at least glance at his publisher's bio. Only in 2007, when his cleanup crew is erasing his past, is it "corrected".

The truth will only be known when he is arrested and/or tried.

OK, I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I'm trying to put myself in Obama's place back in 1991. I'm a young man with a promising future in politics and I'm having somebody ghostwriting my first book. A glowing "autobiography" of me!

So my literary agent puts out a promotional booklet on me describing me as being born in some foreign African country when I was actually born in the USA. But I don't even bother to correct it. Why worry about some trivial detail! I just want to sell my books and run for president someday...
