OMAHA, Neb. - The Associated Press has projected Deb Fischer as the winner of the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.
Most of the evening, Jon Bruning maintained a lead over Fischer; however, during the 9 p.m. hour, the lead switched in favor of Fischer.
Just under 6,000 votes separated the top two candidates when the Associated Press called the race.

What’s great about Sarah is, she doesn’t have to roar, only a whisper and everyone listens! But that doesn’t mean everyone will admit to it.
After we make Sarah President for 8 years maybe Todd for the next 8? I just can’t see how i’ll be able to give her up after 8:):)
It was your comment on the other thread about Sarah being happy which I hadn’t thought of, only my own happiness, at the time, reading about Deb winning and coming out from behind that made me think of you when I saw her pic with her facebook statement about Deb’s win.
Ah, yes. You have mail!
Thanks for the ping.
Old Sen. Hatch in Utah must be pacing as well.
Not a chance. Her district will reelect her until she dies and probably after than as well.
Well, let's see...
Votes cast:
182,744 for Republican Presidential Candidates
192,231 for Republican Senatorial Candidates
80,417 for RAT Senatorial Candidates
62,226 for Ohomo
I was just going to point that out...out of the 80,000 who cast votes on the Dem ballot; just over 18,000 chose not to cast a vote for Obama. When you look at vote totals; it doesn’t look good for Kerrey...not one bit.
Palin still has her mojo!
It will be interesting what she does in Utah since she and Levin have already come out in favor of Hatch.
It would appear that the trumpeted irrelevancy of Sarah Palin, along with the diminution of the Tea Party..are premature.
(insert Precious Pup laugh)
Go Deb Fischer, go Sarah Palin..and go Tea Party. :-)
Thak you for the additional insight. Makes this victory a little sweeter.
I love America.
Poll | Date | Sample | Fischer (R) | Kerrey (D) | Spread |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
PPP (D) | 3/22 - 3/25 | 1028 RV | 48 | 38 | Fischer +10 |
Rasmussen Reports | 3/5 - 3/5 | 500 LV | 46 | 34 | Fischer +12 |
The real battle is between conservatives and the GOP establishment, and is fought in the primaries. In this battle, Sarah provides true leadership.
Congrats to Deb Fischer, I hope she’s the right candidate for the general.
He said if Republicans continue to make it difficult for legislators to find compromise, we will be relegated to minority status. Parties dont succeed for long if they stop appealing to voters who may disagree with them on some issues.
You beat yourself, crankbait. What kind of loser harps about disconnect, when he doesn't even own a house in the State he supposedly represents?!? Parties don't succeed for long if they keep sending the same octogenarian six-term RINOs with the same stale, last-century RINO 'ideas' back to the Senate.
And by the way, Dick, it's a Senate, not a House of Lords.
You became part of the problem, with a clear interest in sustaining the problem -- like START -- rather than actually providing a real solution. And your comity comedy with Bobo? Don't get me started.
"He has pledged his support to groups whose prime mission is to cleanse the Republican party of those who stray from orthodoxy as they see it, said Lugar of the GOP opponent who beat him."
And so he did. Wash, rinse, repeat as needed. Enjoy your retirement, you old goat.
