You spoke too soon, Rand Paul. It sounds like the President's views on marriage just got even gayer.
Somewhat buried in CNN's story on Barack Obama's fundraiser in New York is this little tidbit about his administration's plans for marriage equality
He also outlined goals he hopes to accomplish under a second term, including the repeal of the Defense Of Marriage Act, which the administration has already stopped defending.
This is the first time Obama has said that he wil actively work to repeal the law.
At the fundraiser, hosted by openly gay pop star Ricky Martin, Obama called same-sex marriage the "right thing to do." He also said that contrary to what many rightwing pundits have alleged, marriage equality will help families.
I saw this coming.
Same sex marriage is not the “right thing to do” it is clearly the wrong thing to do.
mentioned here also.
The House should have convened Impeachment hearings 5 minutes after Obama announced he wouldn’t defend DOMA. It’s a clear violation of the Oath of Office.
Good Grief..Let Us Evict This Obamanation.
Just days after affirming his support for same-sex marriage, President Obama Monday declined to say whether he would go a step further and publicly take up the fight to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.
While the administration has already stopped defending legal challenges to the legislation, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman, the president said the rest is up to Capitol Hill.
Congress is clearly on notice that I think its a bad idea, the president said in an interview on ABCs The View.
SNIP
A couple of FReepers called it earlier today on a different thread.
Consider me unsurprised.
As the citizens in 31 states have declared. Gay marriage is just wrong no matter how the bullies try to demonize the vast majority that are against it. The gay community wants to be accepted as “normal” so badly . It’s never going to happen no matter how hard they try.
Thanks for posting that link.
Let him keep talking. I have a hunch that a large majority of Americans are opposed to this-—and that obammy now stands a bigger chance of losing his election............
(At least, that’s what I hope....)
He’s really going all out for the show tune vote.
The Democrats want to first molest the minds of children and then molest their bodies later.
People just don’t want to pay public welfare benefits for two lunatics sodding off all day.
Muslims would just kill homosexuals.
Taking into consideration broken clocks tell the correct time twice each day, maybe “spread the other cheek” is not a good public policy.
In your unabridged Oxford Dictionaries, the word “faggotry” denotes the bundling of steel to be hammered or rolled together.
Mammalian evolution is entirely heterosexual.
Monogamy is not required for evolution, monogamy is a tenet of religion.
To prohibit polyandry and polygyny is an ecclesiastic rule of law.
To establish an ecclesiastic standard of monogamy for homosexuals is nothing but RELIGIOUS FAGGOTRY.
Democrats live in a fantasy world where fairies wave magic wands over their anus and babies materialize out of thin air.
All men are born of a woman.
If you have to tell grown men that babies will not come out of their rectums, there is no hope for any rational discourse...
gayer and gayer
Next NEWSWEEK cover could be “The Gay Doubledown”
The entire Democrat party has just “come out of the closet”.
I don’t think this emphasis on gay marriage is helping Obama at all, and I hope he and his media friends keep it up.
>Same sex marriage is not the right
>thing to do it is clearly the wrong thing to do.
I agree with you. The problem is that the “younglings” just don’t see the danger that you and I do. The under 30 crowd has no issues with gay marriage (it’s like 80/20). If we don’t change that, it’s all over in 15-20 years as the older generations find their reward and “younglings” age into the majority.
And, of course, to the victors goes the right to write history. I suspect that not only we will lose this fight if we can’t turn things around (and fast) but we will be vilified in the history books.
Boehner doesn’t want to offend the Beltway elite by upholding his oath to defend the Constitution against Obama’s abuse of power.
