Simple answer: There are a lot more NP than you. They will eventually overwhelm any defense you have.
Organizational prepping (like at a church level) is, I’d think, better than so many loner efforts.
With what resources? Stuff they prepped with? They aren't preppers.

Gosh, that’s my thinking.

This is absolutely one thing that any prepper should take into account.
The Non-Prepper.
I am certain that there will be more non-preppers than preppers, those who will try and take by force that which they need - and who can blame them?
Not me. I don;t blame them one bit.
But non-preppers, well..do they have the ammo to back up their threats?
That’s my thought as well. I live in a suburban neighborhood on the edge of a wildlife refuge. I would hunt and forage, but when most people can’t buy food, they will loot the supermarkets. Once the supermarkets are empty, armed bands will begin to go house to house and take your food. The weak and lazy will perish. Is the answer to migrate to a sparsely populated warm climate where an abundance of vegetation and wildlife is available, avoiding the armed food bandits?
You remind me of a saying that my wonderful grandfather used to favor..."Can't never could do nothing!"
The prepper has TONS of factors that may be on his/her side against the biggest groups. And, a serious prepper never expects a certain outcome - they're just working to bring the risk to an acceptable level.
To the prepper, leaving one's head on the chopping block is just not an acceptable level of risk; and to the religious prepper "God helps them who help themselves".
They won’t overrun this neighborhood. They didn’t prep, we did and we gotz lotz of ammo.
So if they want to come and victimize us it’d be a pretty stoopit thing to do.
I have three cops within one block of me who are marksmen and three additional cops within 1/4 mile who part of the same community.
Now you couple ability, superior tactics and well fed against a desperate few, well they ain’t gonna fare so well and we’ll em to pick up their dead buddies before they leave or we’ll shoot them too.
