Something I've been thinking about for a while - - Last month when the site went off-line for a while I went to the freerepublic2 alternate site at Yahoo groups to look for a status report and found the following message from someone named incomitatus42:

I've never seen a site with so many problems. Since I've been here its gone down too many times to count. One reason I won't donate is because it appears none of the donations are going to upgrade the hardware on this site. and before you start blasting me there are other subscribers who agree with me, although not publicly. I really love FR and wish it only the best.

On yesterday's World War II thread + 70 Years thread I noted that May 12, 2012 was the 1,000th consecutive day with a news thread. I try to post a thread early each morning. Once in a while there is a technical problem with the site and I have to wait a while before posting. But I bet I could count on one hand the times I have had to wait until the P.M. in order to post. At times my own technical problems have delayed my post (like my photobucket issue last week). But even those have been overcome and the news was posted on the right day.

Maybe if incomitatus42 took off his or her mittens he or she would be able to count the number of days freerepublic.com has gone down.

Later today I will report to the Free Republic University Finance Department and drop off my new debit card number to restore my monthly tuition payment.
