The first shock came when Mordechai Jungreis learned that his mentally disabled teenage son was being molested in a Jewish ritual bathhouse in Brooklyn. The second came after Mr. Jungreis complained, and the man accused of the abuse was arrested.
Old friends started walking stonily past him and his family on the streets of Williamsburg. Their landlord kicked them out of their apartment. Anonymous messages filled their answering machine, cursing Mr. Jungreis for turning in a fellow Jew. And, he said, the mother of a child in a wheelchair confronted Mr. Jungreis’s mother-in-law, saying the same man had molested her son, and she “did not report this crime, so why did your son-in-law have to?”

Exactly the same attitude as among the Catholic clergy when this all started coming out. Far more important to protect the institution or community than to protect children.
Very sad. I understand the concern about false accusations ruining someone’s life. That is a real issue. The answer is not to enforce silence, it’s to develop better ways of separating false from true accusations.
The thick body of ritual law that these people take to govern their lives might be ill equipped for this new challenge. So they fall back on plain old fallen, sinful human soddenness.
Which again goes to show, the law cannot save.
Why turn him in? Just KILL him!

I’ve long decided that if my kids were victim to child molesting scumbags that I’d take the law into my own hands and handle things myself. No trial. No reliving the events on trial and questioning. No media. Just the 3’s treatment.

It's interesting that the cases are predominantly homosexual molestation of young boys.
Okay this is just great! Someone abuses your kid and the community bands around and supports the abuser?
What is wrong with these people? Shunning is not the answer unless they had their own Jewish jails to shun them in.
Better yet just stone the perverts at the edge of the village like in old days.

Child predators do not deserve to ever again step foot in civilized society
Insulated communities that feel besieged cover up sin. And their insulated nature begs corruption. It’s a shame.
