More According to the State Board of Elections website, with more than 600,000 votes counted, Amendment One had 55 percent voting for it and 44 percent voting against it. The amendment, if passed, would constitutionally make marriage between a man and a woman the only acceptable form of marriage.

Fortunately, on that day, he'll be just another babbling idiot in the unemployment line...
Probably not, but he won’t have the liberal Congress he needs to pass any of that, and will face an even more conservative Congress after 2014.
I live in NY but I am doign some work in NC
I was shocked by the effort to portray this as some evil thing you had to be against
NO ONE was for it that I talked to, and many people were PO’d at having to vote for it in the first place- they were so sick of being portrayed as evil for wanting marriage to be man and woman.
And the thought that THIS was in issue that was important in this economic climate pissed them off even more
Extrapolate the marriage amendment margin to other fake Dem polls and November is looking pretty good!
She needs prayer, and a concealed handgun license.
At last we can clear up who are the teabaggers and who are the Tea Party.
No she doesn’t , we have open carry here . Unless the polling place is a school ... If folks are stepping up in prayer , she will not need a firearm tonight or any other time !
Snoot ;o)
Well I will NEVER pay “reparations” to ANYONE! So don’t even bother asking;)
Proud to be a native North Carolinian. Always.
Excellent, and thank you, North Carolina voters! Glad there's some common sense still out there (there isn't much up here in the People's Republik of Connecticut).
One of these years we're outta here - we hope to move somewhere between mid-Virgina and Florida. My husband loves what he's seen of NC, but we weren't sure (as of a couple of years ago) if NC was "conservative enough".
I know... incredible, isn't it? I barely recognize this world we now live in, and... I'm really not that old...
BTW, I live in the People's Republik of Connecticut, which became a Gay State years ago thanks to one activist judge who decided to change CT's constitution.
The marriage issue is now 32-0 and the GOP-e won’t lift a finger to promote it.

I know I just pinged another article about the BIG WIN in NC but I am happy to ping to some GOOD NEWS once in a awhile. But.... note BwanaNdege's comment about the woman who was threated by a couple of perverts. Nasty!
I just got my first major fundraising letter from the Romney campaign this evening. Not ONE WORD about any concern for stemming the tide of homo-perversion or any other social issues for that matter.
I included a donation of two $20 monopoly bills and checked the "other" box as "fake money for fake Republicans" along with a note to remove me from the RINO mailing list.
A lot of Romneybots are going to be stunned when they learn how quickly they are going to be sold up the river if this RINO wins. It is impossible to be fiscally conservative without the other wing to fly with.
They’re going to need more wake-up calls...like today. But stronger.
but... but... but...
All the polls say Americans are ok with gay marriage.
The bitterness is strong this morning.
Proud of the Tar Heel State.
actually it is crystal clear.
Employers are allowed to have private agreements which provide insurance for recreational sex partners.
There is no tax payer funded expenses for this.
It also meanse government jobs can not become a feeding trough for taxpayer funded sanctions.
None of which I disputed. When articles say it bars civil unions they are wrong. Civil unions just require a contract.
As well you should be! I am SO pumped about the NC results yesterday. My husband and I need to spend more time in the Tar Heel State. NC is one of the states we are considering re-locating to "someday".
The day I really started to hate my home state of Connecticut is the day one CT judge decided on his own that CT had to "get with the times" and "redefine" the definition of marriage in CT's Constitution. A few religious groups objected, but it went nowhere - we never had a chance to vote on it, it just happened.
For that and many other reasons, I don't even recognize this state I grew up in anymore, and I can't wait to bid good riddance to it someday.
It is gonna be FUN to watch the democRATs "suffer" through their convention in Charlotte, NC this September. The RAT's will be spending all that $$$$ in a state that gave 'em a big ole slap down yesterday, LOL.
