Hostess Brands Inc. on Friday sent out letters notifying its more-than 18,000 workers that they could be laid off in the next two months.
The maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread on Friday mailed out WARN Act notices to all of its employees, a Hostess spokeswoman confirmed to Bankruptcy Beat Monday. The federal WARN Act requires companies to give employees 60 days notice before closing a facility or ordering mass layoffs. However, sending the notices doesnt mean a company is definitely going to lay off the recipients.

With an RC cola of course....
The workers are not being "laid off", they're being "proactively retired".
lol my Mex neighbor brags about Bimbo all the time.
I’m suing them; I want labels in 22 languages warning us about this. I know there are many news stories telling how diet soda really isn’t good for you, and I can’t drink regular soda at all (I feel bloated and “belchy” immediately - I don’t know how people drink it). I basically have a beer gut, but don’t drink beer enough to attribute it to that, coupled with a Hank Hill no-ass...
I do intend to cut down on the stuff, but it is hard to get through the day without it.
I hope it’s not too late to buy 40 or 50 cases of Twinkies.
They’ll last forever, you know, with all the chemicals in them.
3 or 4 packs of those and a glass of milk...yum.
I've been stocking up on teabags for iced tea. Name brand sodas are going for around $5.oo a 12-pack, I will NEVER pay that. After $3.00, they can keep it. We used to take day rides in our general area - now we stay home. Can't help but feel sadness for those who've lost jobs. Obama and his regime need to get a taste of unemplpyment SOON.
You want a bunch of union pukes to bankrupt a company so that sweets will be unavailable because you have no self control?
What the hell are you doing on a conservative site?
Shouldn't you be at a union meeting so a bunch of goons can tell you how to live your life rather than you in your weakness you trying to dictate to adults who actually can run their own lives without your help?
Geez, I absolutely hate you nanny staters!
My husband worked for Hostess (Continental Baking) when we were first married.
“Thats why I drink black tea. I practically mainline the stuff.”
I’ve been told I’d get the caffeine without the gut if I just drank old-fashioned iced tea (without sugar - teabags in water); has that been your experience?
HoHo is the best!
Next thing they will tell us which leaves we can legally smoke. Oops, too late.
The only thing I dislike more than twinkies are unions...goodbye.

I couldn’t agree with you more. We still go on short rides (under an hour) to places where we can hike and see old mines, furnaces and such to the north & west of us; the days of movies or bowling with the kids, eating out (or ordering in), etc. are over. Occasionally (every few months or so) we will order a movie “on demand” (maximum cost $5, compared to theater prices). When we go to the shore or nearby lakes we bring our own lunch in a cooler; for hiking we need only bring water in canteens (sometimes with imitation Kool-Aid mix), a tube of crackers, a can of Spam, and a can of Cheez Wiz.
I’m glad I grew up in a large family; many of the things people are missing I never had anyway.
We can’t believe the prices on anything on the grocery store shelves these days. $4.00 per pound for hamburger!
Fuel cost are the reason for the price increases of all food items over the last couple of years.
Super!
