Although Lugar is long past his prime, his "staff" can take care of garnering the goodies seniority brings with it. There's more than one drooler in Congress ~ and who can forget when they wheeled Teddy Kennedy in to vote, brain pan in full view ~ there was nothing there as we all suspected ~ but look at what he got for Massachusetts ~ HUGE grants to the biggest state industry ~ higher ed!
Jesse Helms lived past his prime, as did John Stennis, and then there was the Fritz Hollings and Strom Thurmond ~ they sucked down hundreds of billions for South Carolina. Without their seniority the place'd been UNLIVABLE!
Never imagine that a ruling party senator with top seniority isn't worth something to the voters in his state.
I hope you’re voting for Mourdock tomorrow. You know Dick has got to go.
Are you serious? Thurmond and Hollings did bring home the bacon but South Carolina would still be a great place to live even if they had never been in the Senate.
