To me, to heartily bash Americans as "un-American" is not only reminscent of McCarthy's committee of "un-American" activities, but is one of the worst "bashes" you can make on a thread that surrounds a focus on a "Free Republic."
Beyond that, it's a self-refutation when both of these posters are seemingly concerned about the "bashing" going on of those they bash as "un-American."
Sure. If somebody wants to come here with their virtual pulprit and preach, "Thou shalt not bash." By all means...proceed...But you know...we expect preachers to practice the "non-bashing." We don't expect the preachers of "non-bashing" to try to lead a bashing choir...[see post #395 for yet another bash of Reaganaut's religious principles]
Otherwise it comes across as Ghandi preaching non-violence, all as he commits it!

To help you understand what I really said (though if you actually read the words, you'll get it on your own)......
I said that long ago I decided I needed to stay away from "religious threads," and it is in that context I used the word "demonic." (That usually was the anti-Christian side, but sometimes included both sides of the arguments).
The idea that everyone claiming to be a Christian on the Internet actually IS one, and the idea that every word proceding from the mouth of even those of us who ARE Christians is of God doesn't jibe with Scripture.
Do you remember when Jesus said to Peter, "Get thee behind me, Satan?" Do you think that Peter knew he was being used by the devil at that time?
If you don't understand that spiritual warfare also includes trying to bring down Christians by luring them into the sins of unrighteous anger, arrogance, self-absorbtion, hatred, spite, ego, willful blindness, and every other evil, your knowledge of the Scripture you claim to believe is shallow and imprecise.
We are ALL sinners, saved by Grace, and shouting nasty things on the Internet to those who disagree with us and then calling it 'defending the faith' is something we ALL need to be aware of and pray for the strength and wisdom to fight against.
I don't know for sure, of course, but I highly doubt that many, if any, come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ by being belittled and brow beaten on an internent forum.

There seems to be two types of folks in this thread, and they are both right.
One type will 'accept' Romney; thinking he is slightly better than Obama. The others think that NEITHER is worth a tinker's damn and are focused on a longer view.
What is weird, though, is that in BOTH camps there are those that are REALLY upset that religion has, one, reared it's ugly head, or, two, it's not being represented 'correctly'; especially by ME.

If eastforker is an atheist, which I do not know nor care about, his “religion” is equally valid as mormonism, catholicism, baptist, anabaptist, anglican, shia, sunni, ba’hai, shinto, the various types of judaism and buddism .... got bored writing them so add any others you feel like.
Bashing anyones religion is un-American. It is right there in that document you are so proud of and many posters and members here are sworn to defend.

I don’t know eastforker from Adam. As far as I recall we have never talked, argued with each other, or agreed with each other on anything.

I made the same veiled reference to such an action. It is disheartening to see how so many freepers don’t get how evil a man Bo really is. Even Romney is a saint by comparison. To make the statement that romney is bo lite is simply beyond the pale. I don’t like most of romney’s record, but to suggest that he has the visceral hatred for America that Bo has is just not believeable.
