I think selecting Rubio because he is ‘hispanic’ would be a really bad idea.

I thought it was the RAT party that panders to the "groups" - the homos, the illegals, the felons, the unions, the poor, the blacks, the hispanics, etc. NOW the GOP is gonna start this? IF the GOP has a death wish go ahead - otherwise the GOP should start selling the American Idol sheeple of America on the virtues of liberty and conservatism.

Somewhere somehow, some time the spending has to end and we have to live within our means.

It's idiotic to me that we can take in 150-180 billion per month yet can't run a budget on it?

What is even worse is that few even bring it up!!

...to serve his country in times of need as VP it will be difficult to turn down.

If a Romney nominee came to him and said sincerely that he didn't think he was certain of beating Obama without him on the ticket, how could he walk away ? Near impossible.

Homosexuals have a 20 yr shorter lifespan than normal people

Thanks Bray.

It's really sad. I've lost some pretty good, well maybe not "friends" but close acquaintances, who were homosexuals. They got sick very young, they died very young.

Right now my choir director is very sick and he's been very sick for quite a while. He's only a little over 40.

Just another anecdotal statistic I suppose but not as I see it. I know they try to hide the truth but the truth is same sex is not good for you, no it's not, it's not the nature of things. I don't expect my choir director to live much more than, if lucky, maybe five more years.

Yeah, I'm kind of sad about that.

Ironically the penny plan which has everything we need would work.

Just cut the budget, if we ever get another one to cut,1% per year for ten years and stop the insane automatic increases and we balance in almost no time at all.

It would be near painless,do much to save not only the country but the financial system of the world. Yet this simple plan would face huge opposition by the big spenders in congress probably on both sides.

I feel sorry for the innocent people in backward, primitive societies, but there is nothing we can achieve for them by sending troops. Nothing by sending food or money, either as their corrupt leaders manage to grab it before it gets to the people.

I think if we are unwilling to use our best weapons against an enemy nation, then we have no business trying to make some hopeless version of post-modern “war” against them.

This idea of “humanitarian war” is perverse and gets our own people killed in exchange for little or no meaningful return on the investment.

Am I saying nuke them or forget it? Yes. That’s what I’m saying.

You are so right about libs. They have no core values.

Yes, and no.

They, the libs, have perfected the technique of using "core values" to splinter their opposition into fragments, thereby diluting the available votes for any one person. Thinking people give more or less weight to ideas they believe in, which differ from one to another. Libs attempt to magnify the differences, and use them to splinter their opposition, to dilute it.

This is how they win with seemingly stupid, unsupportable candidates time after time. They throw out all the "core values" as bait.

Regards their actual core values, yes they have one. It is to push socialism and Marxism to the extreme, in any way possible, down the middle, around the sides, over the top or underneath. Whatever and whichever way they can advance the implementation. in that they are united, and formidable, without unity opposing them.

Libs argue about winning, cons argue about core values.

Not disagreeing with having core values. Without them, we merely sway in the breeze. However, it is also important to have a seat at the table, where policy is decided.

Perhaps focusing more on similarities and political goals, and less on individual differences, which end up pushing a former ally over the cliff because their church is a different address, or they don't walk as high on the water.

Not to quote myself, but Wallace just took the words out of our mouths in his final question of Rubio. I won't spoil it for you, RG.

I honestly don’t know if a candidate should get very deeply into that right now.

There is such visceral hatred among many conservatives for illegals that almost spreads over onto all hispanics.

Perry’s very mild attempts to justify doing something that was actually very minor for children of illegals... i.e. allowing them to pay instate tuition ... was a turnoff for so many people.

No matter how we explained that it was not free tuition, that there were many criteria that had to be met before the kids were eligible... that it might have an ultimate benefit by turning those kids into tax paying citizens.

Nothing could overcome the automatic hatred and the sentiment for doing nothing, nothing nice for the childrenof illegals.

So, I would just shut up about it and do it quietly.

Because many people DO NOT have a heart when it comes to children of illegals.

We don’t punish children of rapists or murderers or children of people in prison for various crimes but we want to punish children whose parents crime was coming here illegally.

This is not to say in any way that I like illegal immigration. I don’t.

It should be stopped at the border.

So okay, I got an announcement!

:::drumroll::::

I GOT A GUN LAST WEEK!!!

I am reminded because on Chris Matthews, the very honest and integral Dan Rather announced that Florida’s “stand your ground” law was practically written by the NRA.

Now, says the fine, journalistically upstanding Rather, this law is being re-written.

Rather did hasten to say he didn’t think it would pass.

OF COURSE IT WON’T PASS!

Americans will not tolerate any notions, however it comes to be either by banning this stand your ground law or re-writing it with milder words, ...any notion that we should have to stand and be beaten, victimized or otherwise attacked and just take it.

It took me a long time as I’d never fired a gun, even held a gun, in my entire life.

So did some investigation, thank God for Sussex county Delaware, paradise on earth, for there are gun stores everywhere. Well hell we’re the boobs who elected Christine O’Donnell so of course we have more churches per capita than all the counties on the east coast and lots of gun stores.

Took me all day.

First had to take a class. Watch a movie, pay attention. Then go out to the range, shoot a revolver, then a semi-automatic, several different kinds of guns. Had to load them, shoot them, eject the spent cartridges. Learn about bullets.

BUT I DID IT!

I hit the target every time. My instructor’s shouting out “Got him in the shouler”...”good, hit him right in the heart”.

Well frankly this commentary, while I know he meant well, made me a tad uncomfortable. Lord I hope I never have to shoot anybody.

Had to pass federal yahoo stuff and state yahoo stuff, had to hang around as the bureaucrats took smoke breaks and their good ole time checking that I was a good citizen, not a nut like my neighbor, never arrested, ALL FOUR of my married names as well as my birth name...on and on.

BUT IT GOT IT.

Got a Smith & Wessen 38 revolver.

Fired it too.

I’m prepping for this coming election’s riots as I hav e my suspicions about what’s coming down.

Involves Occupation Wall Street and the Zimmerman case, more on this later.

I agree. Maybe not nukes but surely there is bombing we could do that would be effective.

I would say nukes after warning the population but those countries are so small, there’s not much place to go.

All you say is true but it doesn’t change my premise. I don’t think any of those things are in the minds of people who come here illegally. they just aren’t.

I can only give you the facts. Anchor babies provide certain benefits both materially and in terms of staying here. People come to this country to improve their lot in life including those of their children. When you reward something you get more of it. We have 300,000 to 400,000 anchor babies a year plus millions more who come illegally with their parents.

When we had the amnesty in 1986, the proponnents said that it would solve our problems with illegal aliens. They promised that it would be a one time amnesty, never to done again. The USG estimated that one million would apply, but the number turned out to be 2.7 million. Fraudulent document centers were set up just blocks away from the processing centers. There was an uptick in illegal immigration after the amnesty was passed even though the law said you had to be here for five years to be eligible. We now have 12 to 20 million illegal aliens and the push is on for another amnesty.

As far as birth tourism is concerned, there are documented rings that bring in expecting mothers from China and India. During my service overseas at our embassies, our local employees sent their wives to the US to have their children so they could get an American passport. It was a form of insurance.

A New Baby Boom? Foreign 'Birth Tourists' Seek U.S. Citizenship for Children

For many pregnant Chinese, a U.S. passport for baby remains a powerful lure

Border control is the only way to stop the influx. Why will nobody get serious about that? Surely it’s not impossible. Oh, some would get through, but it would be a trickle compared to the flood we have now.

40% of the illegals who are here now came here legally and overstayed their visas. Securing the border only solves part of the problem. We also have to shut off the job magnet using such programs as E-Verify. States like AZ have shown that attrition thru enforcement works. We need state and local law enforcement to work with the Feds. There are only 6,000 ICE agents for the entire country.

The actual number of illegals crossing the border has gone down primarily due to the lack of jobs during this economic downturn. They will go up once the economy improves. And frankly, we need to reduce legal immigration from the current 1.2 million a year to a more manageable 300,000 or so. And we have to shift to a merit based system to bring in the skills we need to be competitive in the global economy. Right now, we are bringing in hundreds of thousands of high school dropouts every year, legally and illegally.

And Obama has no interest in stopping the flood or doing anything about illegals already here. He won’t even allow criminals to be deported. It’s crazy.

Obama is conducting a back door amnesty of 300,000 illegals right now, closing their cases and giving them work permits. A few years ago, the Border Patrol union (AFL-CIO) of over 7,000 unanimously gave an unprecedented "No confidence resolution" against the Director of ICE and his deputy for not enforcing the immigration laws. He is still in charge.

Man up, Fish. If you got him (or her) in the heart and you were in danger from him (or her), it’s a good thing.

I’m not a bad shot myself, but I absolutely hate it. The sound, the recoil. It’s just not fun.
