A United Nations investigator probing discrimination against Native Americans has called on the US government to return some of the land stolen from Indian tribes as a step toward combatting continuing and systemic racial discrimination. James Anaya, the UN special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, said no member of the US Congress would meet him as he investigated the part played by the government in the considerable difficulties faced by Indian tribes.

The land sitting on top of all the oil should be absolutely returned. The Indians would start drilling immediately. They are not as stupid as the federal government.
The office building could be converted into a hotel rather easily. Then, the Genral Assembly building could be an enormous gaming facility with Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Slots, Keno, etc.
I'll respond as someone who has seen this happen. If the respondent has 10 full blooded in his 3 greats ancestry of 32 (2^5), would that not be 1/3rd ancestry?
Of course, Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren, is only claiming a single 1 of 32 ancestors as being 'red', maybe high cheekbones meant political proclivity?
Slightly off to the side is the fact that the “progressive eugenics” movement did more damage to American Indians than did all the Indian wars. However, both eugenics and wars were less damaging than the diseases spread by the meeting of cultures between America and Europe.

Well I think all of Europe had best give back all of Europe to it indigenous paleolithic ground squatters & nomadic herdsmen that inhabited the geographic area before the spread of the Anglo/Aryan tribes.
After that come to us and lecture on the definition of “conquest.”
The Sioux took, stole to use the terminology of the article, the Black Hills from the Cheyenne, interestingly enough in 1776. The Sioux thus "owned" the BH for only a century. Whereas "we" have owned it for a century and a half by now. I wonder when title transfers?
The Cheyenne had earlier taken the BH from the Kiowa, driving them south and west. It seems highly unlikely they saw any need to have a treaty with the Kiowa or offer them any compensation. No doubt some other group had control of the BH prior to the Kiowa.
I think one of the most interesting aspects of these indigenous peoples' activists is their utter disinterest in the history of the peoples they're activisting for prior to contact with the white man. They're not interested in them only in the history of their oppression by western civilization.
One day (perhaps very soon), “blue helmets” will be the new symbol displayed on vehicles, like swastikas/zeros were displayed on WWII aircraft. Heh...

Gee, why do I think that he might have a potential bias in this case? (Hint) He appears to have suspiciously high cheekbones, and we know what that means, right?

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.),. . . lauded the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for following their respective visions instead of asserting “narrow American interests” in a speech today on U.S. foreign policy.
. . . In remarks at the liberal Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., Rubio sketched the advances made globally since the end of World War II as a result of America’s leadership.
“The purpose of the institutions we established, from the United Nations to the World Bank and the IMF was to spread peace and prosperity, not to assert narrow American interests,” said Sen. Rubio.

Native America “Indians” certainly believed the victor deserved the spoils. What should change that? They did not voluntarily do so.
