Demographics will doom Republicans in the out years, Democrats like to say. A coalition of Black and Latino voters along with the socially moderate youth bloc is quickly becoming the lefts safety net, even in tight elections. But as the Washington Post reported Friday, theres a problem:
[T]his is the first time in nearly four decades that the number of registered Hispanics has dropped significantly. That figure fell 5% across the country, to about 11 million, according to the Census Bureau. But in some politically important swing states, the decline among Hispanics, who are considered critical in the 2012 presidential contest, is much higher: just over 28% in New Mexico, for example, and about 10% in Florida. In total, the number of registered blacks and Hispanics across the country declined by 2 million from 2008 to late 2010, when the Census Bureau collected the data through its Current Population Survey. The figure among blacks is down 7%, to just over 16 million. Among whites, it dropped 6% to 104 million. Heres why this is potentially disastrous for Obama:
For one, whites break more evenly than Latinos or Blacks do. Obama lost whites to John McCain by 12 points in 2008, but won Latinos by 36 points and blacks by an overwhelming 91 points. That means the effect of the drop in registration among whites is relatively diffuse, while the effect of a similar drop among Blacks and Latinos is much more pronounced for Democrats.
Another factor is whats behind the drop in the first place: Most people lose their registration when they move between communities, and those likeliest to pick up and leave town are young, a slice of the population Obama won by 34 points in 2008, and those displaced by economic hardship.

George Zimmerman may become the hispanic albatross around Obama’s neck.
Good. Bad news for the clown is GOOD NEWS for America.
And he's a white-Hispanic, so that's just wasist.
GOP at state level better push hard for the voter ID laws as well as compliance to overseas ballot for our troops overseas. Otherwise bring the troops home so they can vote.
One problem over the longer term: the Dem coalition can only hold together as long as the economy holds out. The coalition is composed of welfare recipients, government employees, people who get grants from the government, and union members who get above-market compensation due to government duress on employers.
Once the level of spending becomes unsupportable, and elements of the coalition have to be cut loose, watch the civil war develop (both in the Dem party and on the street) as each faction strives to be among those that retain their funding.
That means fewer Republican Hispanic votes. Registered or not, dead or alive, legal or illegal, it can only increase the democrat votes.
After the Chicago riots and Ubama declaring martial law, the UN will come in to oversee the elections and make sure they are "fair," meaning make sure Ubama becomes President-for-life.
yeah but dems cheat
This problem is nothing that a few million dollars, a case of BIC pens and a dozen Acorn workers can’t resolve.
Corrupt Secretaries of States, such as Mark Ritchie of Minnesota (bought and paid for by Georgie Schwartz, and no secret of his Commie ties) will just arrange for marked ballots with consecutive serial numbers and plastic wrap to appear in car trunks, and raise the dead in November. And, in the case of Minnesota, State Attorney General Lori Swanson will look the other way.
I don’t see this as a problem for the dims... they will make up for it with unregistered voters and ballot box stuffing... no big deal to them.
With a Spanish company handling the electronic count what can go wrong?

I read this article last night posted by another Freeper. I read it twice; I enjoyed it so much. And, I read it again here, just now. I love it. Best political news I heard in awhile. Thanks for starting my day of “happy”.
Good observation.

I pray to God that will happen. Also, isn’t his father Jewish? I hope the Hispanic and Jewish Americans get outraged over this thing.
Entitlement whores, Welfare queens, and lazy non-productive people who are on the dole, have unstable lifestyles and are quite mobile, as the article points out. But, they also are not very responsible or dependable when it comes to being civic minded. Many of them smoke dope and/or drink a “40” all day long and that’s all the hell they care about. I guarantee you many, many, many of them will not be registered to vote on Election Day. They wouldn’t know where their Precinct Polling location is even if they were registered.
12 States have passed Voter ID Laws since ‘08. But, four were vetoed by Democrat Governors. So, we still have 8 States with Voter ID Laws that we did not have in ‘08. And, those 4 Governors should be voted out of office.
Next up: “Registration is racism”, so people should just be allowed to show up on election day and vote.
That's why big-city Dem Parties have the Precinct Captain system. The Precinct Captain is the one you go to in order to make sure your welfare paperwork is filled out right, she makes sure you are registered with every program you are eligible. She also makes sure you are registered to vote and arranges van pools to ensure you DO get to the poll. And you better go vote if you want continued help in dealing with the welfare bureaucracy.
What I think we're seeing is recognition of how many illegal voters we had.
