After six successful albums, in 1980
Eddie Rabbitt was approached by NBC to do a TV special featuring other country artists. It aired in July and got respectable ratings and reviews. Then the network approached him to do a variety show in the same tradition as Mac Davis old show in the mid-Seventies. Eddie had a good business head on his shoulders, and he turned it down with the comment, Its not worth the gamble.
His album Horizon produced successful singles, and Eddie continued pushing the envelope on the country sound. This was a Stevens and Malloy co-effort with Eddie, and was inspired by Bob Dylans Subterranean Homesick Blues.
Drivin My Life Away
This song developed from a small fragment Eddie penned during a thunderstorm back in the Sixties. It was a huge crossover hit, again bringing Stevens and Malloy into the mix.
