Madison - Gov. Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett are locked in a dead-even race for governor, according to a poll released Wednesday by Marquette University Law School.
The poll also showed Barrett leading his Democratic rivals in Tuesday's primary. The winner of the primary will face the Republican governor in the June 5 recall election.
Among registered voters, Barrett led Walker 47% to 46%. That 1-point lead was reversed when considering only likely voters, with Walker holding 48% and Barrett holding 47%.
That's "just about as close to a tie as you can possibly get," said the poll's director, visiting Marquette political science professor Charles Franklin, during a webcast about his findings.
The results are even closer than one done by Marquette in March, when Walker led Barrett 47% to 45%.
The latest poll was released just two days after candidates filed fundraising reports that showed Walker with a huge cash advantage. But so far his heavy spending has not allowed him to break away from Barrett.
Walker performed much better against former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk. He beat her 49% to 42% among registered voters, with similar results among likely voters. Walker had an advantage of 49% to 40% among likely voters in head-to-head matchups with both Sectary of State Doug La Follette and state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of Alma.

The numbers changed when they changed the parameters of the poll ping.
Always a dead heat. The Dems are up to their old tricks.
Given the propensity of the lone interred to mysteriously arise and vote for the Slave Party, the term “Dead Heat” acquires a whole new meaning.
Mea culpa. I hate it when a typo slips through spell check.
I guess the counting will go on until there are enough Democrat votes?
Spell check? Only newbies use spell check.

Is that what they mean by democratic process?
If the RATS manage to cheat and steal it, the state is going to end up going bankrupt. A judge will deal with the union contracts.
Wisconsin Walker Barrett poll ping
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
I just don’t know how this poll could possibly be right. Who are the brain dead voters who would consider substituting Barrett for Walker? This shouldn’t even be close.
This is BAAAAD news, considering Walker has outraised him 12-to-1 in the past 3 months! Must be a TON of union cash blasting him.
Send $$$ to Scott Walker if you can!
This is an important battle to win, to assure Governors across the country, that it is ok to take on Public Employee Unions.
No state can survive their continued existance!
The Mid-west states have always leaned to the left but this will be an interesting election and a watershed for determining if the US is on the same path as Greece or on the path to finally getting the public employee unions under control. If Walker loses you can pretty much write off any politician even considering taking on the unions, you can also pretty much write off all the states as they will eventually all declare bankruptcy/default in ten or so years as public employee pensions blow-up every state, county and city budget. God help us if Walker loses, but if it really is this close then the RATS will pull this out with massive voter fraud, we need at least 5-10% margin or Walker is sunk.
Over sampling dems by 5% then “weighting” results

If the voters don’t back Walker, they will have dug their own grave.
Indeed, if WI votes Walker out, they deserve every socialist plague that comes upon them.
I think it’s very important that Walker win this contest.
