Many naive Americans believe that Mormonism is merely another branch of protestant Christianity. Well thats not what the founders and leaders of Mormonism believed.
According to its founder, Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young, Smiths successor, Mormons are the only true people of God on the earth. All non-Mormons and their religions are wrong, an abomination, blind, damned, of the devil, whores, not Christians, groveling in darkness, heathens, ignorant, devoid of fact, pagan and hatched in Hell.
When Romney made a speech about his religion in 2008 he refused to distance himself from his faith and fully affirmed his Mormonism. Responding to critics, Romney said,
"They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers - I will be true to them and to my beliefs."
Romney, the father of homosexual marriage in America and abortion funding Romney Care in Massachusetts, flip-flops on virtually every issue, but he is adamant about his anti-Christian Mormonism. Romney needs the vote of Christians to win election, but he refuses to disavow one or another of its precepts.
Nor can anyone think Romney is merely a casual or cultural Mormon who just happened to be born Mormon. He is an active Bishop in the Mormon church hierarchy. He cannot pretend to be ignorant of the teaching of Joseph Smith and the other prophets of Mormonism.
Below is a list of quotes from Mormon leaders and official publications starting with Joseph Smith down to our day. The message is consistent and clear.

Show me where it is in the Word? Mormoism contradicts the Bible every single doctrine, they are not Christians and should not be considered such. If your ‘pastor’ says they are, then HE is wrong and needs to be corrected.
And apparently I DO know the Bible (and Christian theology AND Mormonism) much better than you do based upon your comments. However, there is still time for you to learn the truth.
And adhominum attacks are a sure sign you can’t carry the debate.
“Let me get this straight....youd prefer to muzzle or otherwise stifle Mormons from advertising their particular strain of belief and purify the marketplace of ideas? Really, if Christians are abject failures at spreading their word of Christ, dont blame a Mormon for taking into their fold a convert who rejected the Christian message.”
We have freedom of religious expression in this country and I’m not at all about stifling that. However, I also am NOT going to do an action, (AKA put a devout Mormon in the POTUS position), that will make it easier for that cult to spread its message and mislead more prey.
So, I am not only speaking against Mr. Obama as president, I am speaking against Mr. Romney as well. Also, I am a conservative Republican. Even without his Mormonism, Mr. Romney should NOT be representing the GOP. Therefore, I am part of the rebellion against the GOPe to stop them from ruling the party. It is time for the base to pick the candidates, not the elite establishment with no values or principles.
I WILL NOT vote for Mr. Obama, but I will not vote for the Myth either. I strongly object to him on both political and religious grounds. Either way, I won’t support him, I WILL oppose him.
Like I keep saying, Mr. Obama is openly evil and easy to recognize as such. Romney is just as evil, but in an insidious way that will fool the foolish.
From your mouth to God’s ears.
Our part of the country doesn’t really do bumperstickers or yard signs, but I may break the pattern in hopes of showing others there is an alternative.

Worth a repost.
If corporations still do billboards, then signs still work.
Stock up. Spread them around.
Goode would be very, very smart to go huge with his signs right now. Let the alternative be known BEFORE the big money floods the airwaves and drowns out all other voices.
He needs name recognition and now is the time to get it.
Short of starting a bonfire in the middle of the capitol rotunda, he should be trying everything possible to get his name out NOW.
The lds-org denies that Jesus is the Creator, that everything was created BY Him.
The lds-org is a thief of the Name and the Truth of Jesus Christ.
I love it when Christians show their true faces.
I guessed you missed Christ’s message. Must have been too busy engaging in fetish blood rituals and mock cannabilistic ceremonies.
You are the one who missed Christ’s message or you wouldn’t be mocking Christians.
And rather than address the post, you resort to ad hominum attacks, typical.
My true face is the face of Christ. Jesus wasn’t a wuss and He didn’t tolerate false teachings, neither should his followers.
Now, would you actually address the similarities between Mormonism and Islam or are you just going to slink away and live in your ignorance?
So, what do you see as the message of Christ? I’m really curious at what you will come up with and if it is Biblical.
And the real question is your interpretation of both “Biblical Jesus” and “Mormonism” accurate? Are they really mutually exclusive? What is included in the “modern Bible”, the King James, the Orthodox, the Holy Roman and many others may or may not be the way if we pick at their differences. I didn’t find the answer for me in the book of Mormon (a companion text to the Bible), but I didn’t find it to be anti-Christian either. Mormons are certainly not the first to want to apply their own flavor to the way.
As I have said before, Faith is not the problem; preachers on the other hand, I’m not so sure.
Christ paid in full for our sins. All we have to do is accept that gift from our Savior. The rest is how we feed that relationship. In the end it is what is in our hearts not the edicts or interpretations of a church that matters.
IIRC when Romney ran for Senate, he ran to the LEFT of Ted Kennedy. Romney is merely a pale version of Obama. Obama may actually pretend to be more Conservative than Romney once the election cycle begins. Obama is trying to compare himself with Reagan. Obama and Romney will be fighting each other for the progressive liberal votes.
A pox on both their houses. Virgil Goode for President. A true conservative. Accept no fraudulent substitutes.
There was a day on FR when a thread like this would be pulled. Now that FR has become a Romney-bashing bastion, anti-mormon threads are rampant. Too bad.
BY ELDER JOSEPH F. SMITH,
(Delivered in the Tabernacle, Salt Lake City, Sunday Morning, July 7, 1878.) (Reported by Geo. F. Gibbs.) 20:24"All men must obtain salvation upon their own merits, for by our works shall we be judged, and by them justified or condemned."
In my view, his choice of a running mate will be his first opportunity to evidence his professed conservatism, which of course followed his liberal record as governor. If he is serious, he'll pick an outspoken firebrand of a conservative like Palin was to McCain.
Even so, high profile conservative Republicans must hold their noses and embrace the Eleventh Commandment popularized by Reagan to get out the vote to defeat Obama even in the non-liberal dominated states - ones a true conservative could take for granted. The convention may be telling.
I will not vote for Romney, my dear Christian Sister A-G, even if he has St Peter as his running mate.
A real conservative is available to conservatives:
Vote for Goode Not Evil (the lesser of 2 evils is still evil)
Virgil Goode for President
Goode on the issues: http://www.ontheissues.org/VA/Virgil_Goode.htm
Threads exposing Mormonism have been here LONG before Romney ran last time for POTUS. This isn’t a new thing at all.
Now, however, Freepers have started to realize that Mormons are not what they claim (Christians).
Both sides are allowed free speech.
I’ve been wondering if he could put his hand on a King James version at a swearing-in event.
Dear sister in Christ,
I cannot, as a Christian, ever vote for Romney. Fist, his record of being pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage. Second, his Mormonism. I used to be Mormon and I know too much about it. I will not support evil, either Romney or Obama, nor will I support a man who usurps the office of Christ (High Priest after the order of Melchizedek), believes he will become a God of his own universe, believes my beloved Savior didn’t have to die to pay for sin and is the spirit brother of Satan. I cannot do it. The lesser of two evils is still evil. I must vote my conscience and stand on my faith not sell it out for political gain or compromise.
Mitt’s Mormonism shows he has no discernment.
I have worked in ministry to Mormons for almost 20 years now, how can I stand against their heresies and at the same time vote for one of them for the highest office in the land?
I agree Obama is an abomination, but Romney is no better. The Eleventh Commandment is from Ronald Reagan, not God.
I will be voting for Virgil Goode as well.
