As sickening as it sounds, the best thing that can happen to conservatives in 2012 is that Romney is narrowly defeated by Obama while both the Senate and House go solid Republican.
That's all we've got at this point. And I'm thinking that the best way to make that happen is to have serious conservative 3rd party contender who brings out conservatives in droves.
Where are you, Mrs. Palin....?

One thing you’re forgetting is the U.S. Supreme Court. There are four elderly judges who may leave during the next four years.

No way. You don’t win by losing, you win by winning. If Romney lost (he is going to win thankfully), you could expect the next nominee to be Chris Christie, who is far more to the left. Neither party goes more to its flank when it loses, that is just wacky.
