Al Armendariz said Monday morning that he had submitted a letter of resignation on Sunday.
Armendariz was already a lightning rod for conservative critics of the EPA in Texas before last week, when a video became public in which Armendariz spoke of "crucifying" oil and gas companies that broke the law.
Members of Congress and Texas officials jumped on Armendariz's words as proof that he had run the EPA's regional office as an anti-industry zealot.
The environmental engineer, on leave from a professor post at Southern Methodist University, sent a letter Monday to his friends and supporters:

Better than it was 50 years ago, indeed i might argue that our “free press” is perhaps more free than it has been in a 100 years. Largely a product of the internet allowing practically anyone to enter into the business.

I want his many victorious to sue him in Texas for abuses under the color of the law in a VERY PUBLIC trial before an elected Texas Judge.
An example need to be made of this temporizer and Washington agents need to be reminded that they are not above the law, nor are they imperial masters. They are suppose to govern with the consent NOT fear of the governed!
