Bill Clinton says economic recovery ahead of pace looking back up to 500 years in history 04 30, 2012

By Glen Johnson, Globe Staff

Former President Bill Clinton defended President Obama and his handling of the nation’s economic recovery Sunday night, saying “we are beating the clock” historically in comparison to Japan and other economies that have been through similar tumult.

“If you go back 500 years, whenever a country’s financial system collapses, it takes between five and 10 years to get back to full employment,” Clinton said as he introduced Obama at a fund-raiser for his longtime friend Terry McAuliffe.

The former chairman of the Democratic National Committee is now running for governor of Virginia.

“If you go back for the last 200 years, when buildings had been widely owned by individuals and companies, if there’s a mortgage collapse, it almost always takes 10 years,” the former president added as he defended the current one. “He’s beating the clock, not behind it. Don’t listen to those Republicans. We are beating the clock.”

Without directly naming names, Clinton also jabbed at Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, while advocating for his fellow Democrat.

I don’t understand why he’s propping up obama. He didn’t pursue socialist policies and the economy was fairly decent under his administration.

No reasonable person would pay any attention to Mr. Clinton.

This guy was getting sexual favors from a 19 year old - in his office - while IN office.

He lied under oath, and then got disbarred for five years.

Now, if your neighbor had done all that, would you pay any attention to what he said - at anytime?

On the other hand, I did write “reasonable person.”

The economy didn’t collapse, the housing bubble burst in an engineered crisis managed by Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. This would have been a short-term blip if the democrats hadn’t jumped in with both left feet to milk a “crisis” for political gain.

These clowns screwed the pooch and want to look like heroes because they found homes for the puppies.

Clinton only appeared to be moderate, because the Republicans forced him to be moderate.....Monica-gate made him lose a lot of leverage he would have had otherwise to advance the progressive agenda. I’m glad he was impeached, but I am also glad he stayed in office, and avoided us getting stuck with “President” Gore.

500 years ago?!?!?! LOL. Sounds like Bill is fondly thinking of the days of Henry VIII, who got to sleep with pretty much whoever he wanted to.

Ah, re-writing history to establish a new normal. Sadly, the sheeple will be fooled as they flip their clicker to see who got kicked off the island or is winning the race!

What a bizarre comparison.

500 years ago (1500 A.D.) land was the primary measure of wealth, economies were agricultural, governments were kingdoms or city-states, central banking had only existed in Rome under the Knights Templar, and business banking did not yet exist.

There was nos such thing as the Business Cycle. Instead of periodic economic downturns, the more likely economic issues would have been periodic droughts and plagues.

So Hilderbeast was named after a bee keeper? Maybe he was a beekeeper who fed his sheep honey! :(
