Your language is rather evasive. I happen to be somewhat familiar with the church situation in Italy, and not all churches were funded by the state. Protestant ones weren’t, certainly the Waldensians expreienced a “state” preference for Catholicism over their particular denomination, which wasn’t officially and fully recognized until 1984.
Mussolini used the de facto State Church in his country to further his ends, just as Hitler used the de jure State Church to further his.
There were resistors in both instances. There were collaborators in both instances.

My language is never evasive.
“I happen to be somewhat familiar with the church situation in Italy, and not all churches were funded by the state.”
I didn’t say that any church was funded by the state in Italy. Learn to read.
“Protestant ones werent, certainly the Waldensians expreienced a state preference for Catholicism over their particular denomination, which wasnt officially and fully recognized until 1984.”
Again, learn to read. I never said anything about churches being funded by the state in Italy. You clearly linked “State Church” to Hitler. That’s what I responded to.
“Mussolini used the de facto State Church in his country to further his ends, just as Hitler used the de jure State Church to further his.”
Both tried. Both ultimately failed.
“There were resistors in both instances. There were collaborators in both instances.”
Agreed.
