(Reuters) - Britain's military has told residents of an upscale apartment development near the Olympic Park in east London it is installing a missile battery on top of a tower within their housing complex to defend the 2012 Games this summer.
The site is one of a number around the capital the army is considering as bases for surface-to-air missiles to protect the London games from an aerial attack, the Ministry of Defence said.
It is the first time such missiles have been deployed in London since the end of World War Two, shocking some residents at the Bow Quarter housing development, sited in a converted red-brick Victorian match factory.
"There was no consultation, no one knocked on the door," Brian Whelan, a 28-year-old journalist, told Reuters. "You just wake up one morning, there's a leaflet telling you they are going to put missiles on the roof."

They expecting the muzzie air forces to attack??? What a ********!!! The muzzies are there in full force in person. They are there on the ground. If they want to hurt the Limies grand show, they are there, armed and can attack.
I thought the war on terror was over??? Who would want to bother anyone at the London Olympics? /s
So they put a military target on top of a civilian building. Perhaps they should put the next one on top of a hospital.
It’s not like the Muzzies have done it before! jk/
Who in their right mind would attend the games with all this paranoid insanity from the police state combined with the possibility of an attack by the religion of peices? Sounds like a winning bunch of fun!
What the idiots didn’t do to protect the Pentagon and White House on 9/11. There were supposed to be men armed with shoulder-fired AA missiles on the roofs (and the Capital), but never heard of any being there.
PS: Clinton stood down much of our airborn defense systems 1994-95 (some of which was legit; some of which was foolish to abolish, as was shown on 9/11. We couldn’t even put up an armed plane from Andrews AF Base right across the river from the White House. Actually, Bolling AF Base is within spitting distance of the White House, closer than Andrews). It had nothing to put into the defense of DC.
Quantico, the Marine Corps base, also couldn’t put anything armed in the air on 9/11. Planes from Langley, over 90 miles away, arrived too late to do any good.
There is much more to this story, one of the great coverups of the 9/11 events.
RA, I was thinking the same thing.
>>It is the first time such missiles have been deployed in London since the end of World War Two
They had surface to air missiles during WW2? Never saw that on History Channel.
So there is no air protection of the Royal Family and Paraliment?
Hmmm...y’all reckon they are expecting some moslem activity during their O-lympics?
Don’t be too harsh over there, ya hear? You don’t want to send the wrong message to the rest of the world! Especially to the progressive MSM.
I thought the same thing. Dumba** reporter.
“They had surface to air missiles during WW2? “
Some folks did:

The Germans put anti-aircraft missiles on rooftops in London during WW2? That seems a little counter-productive to me. No wonder they lost the war.
That wasn’t the question you asked.
>>That wasnt the question you asked.
It was the question I asked. It wasn’t the question you thought you read. I quoted the OP saying that they had put missiles on the rooftops in LONDON and its the first time since WW2. I said, “They had surface to air missiles in WW2?” By “they”, I meant the Brits (because who else would put S-A missiles on the rooftops in London??). Of course the Germans had them. They had all the cool toys.
Bacon sling shots!
The Germans put anti-aircraft missiles on rooftops in London during WW2?
Was it over when the German’s bombed Pearl harbor?

My neighbor talked about cycling around a Liverpool park in WWII delivering these 3 inch rockets to the various launchers. His stories usually came every New Years Eve after several scotches...:^)
Well not on the London rooftops, or in operational service, but they had Brakemine. Radio command guidance surface to air missile with a 5 mile range.
After watching what happened during the little boat race down the Thames a few weeks ago I can’t wait to see what the crazies do to the London Olympics.
And as for putting missiles on rooftops, what could go wrong with that?
