Obama Warns Women That Romney, GOP Will ‘Close Doors of Opportunity’
President Obama warned women voters today that Republicans in Congress and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney want to “close doors of opportunity we thought we’d kicked open a long time ago.”
“This is a party that prides itself in being rabidly anti-regulation. These are folks who claim to believe in freedom from government interference and meddling. But it doesn’t seem to bother them when it comes to women’s health,” Obama told a crowd of 600 Democratic women at a campaign fundraiser in Washington.
The president cited efforts by several Republican state governors and legislatures to enact laws that would restrict access to contraception, redefine personhood or require ultrasounds before obtaining an abortion.
“If you don’t like it, the governor of Pennsylvania said you can ‘close your eyes,’” Obama said of Republican Gov. Tom Corbett, who has backed a mandatory ultrasound bill.
“It’s appalling. It’s offensive. It’s out of touch. And when it comes to what’s going on out there, you’re not going to close your eyes,” Obama said. “Women across America aren’t closing their eyes. As long as I’m president, I won’t either.”

Is Obama a classic demagogue, or what? One day he says whatever he thinks one group wants to hear; the next day he says something else to a different group; he lies, using out of context quotes for GOP figures, or in describing his own acts. (”Under my administration, we’re drilling more than ever”, while the EPA looks to crucify companies by example).

I suppose that on Planet NPR, this sounds perfectly credible. After all, Mitt Romney is an unhinged right-wing extremist — even more extremely extremist than George Bush.
Which “opportunity” is that Barry? The opportunity to stand in an unemployment or welfare line? Your economic policies have already put millions of them out of work.
Let’s see, we Republicans want to attack women and make them second-class citizens. We want to breathe dirty air and drink dirty water. We want to attack the lower and middle classes. We want to protect those nasty evil rich folks. We want to promote and enjoy racism. And on and on and on. It’s getting old, Democrats.

We want polar bears to perish. We want to see the oceans rise and flood major cities. We want Chicago and Minneapolis to feel like Phoenix in July.
