Maybe Cain wasn’t cheating, maybe he wasn’t. The first woman was a setup, no question, but when the second one came along-—the one he supported for years without telling his wife? Even if he didn’t cheat, that was not kosher.
Either way, I lost all respect for him when he started making accusations against Perry, saying he was responsible for his (Cain’s)problems, jumping on the racial bandwagon about that stupid rock, and then saying the only candidate he couldn’t support was Perry. Cain owed the man an apology. A decent, standup guy would have done it. Cain didn’t.
Yeah, that was appalling. Thing is, I am not really sure Cain meant any of the stuff he was saying by that time. Herman was just winging it. I'm sure he never anticipated going as high in the polls as he did. And those polling numbers brought the kind of scrutiny he was in no way prepared for. The reality is, Herman was running a book tour paid for via campaign contributions. He was never really a serious candidate and could never have survived a full length campaign.
"Pics or it didn't happen" -- I commented at the time about how the entire episode was a set-up by the MSM and how well Cain had *avoided* the cheap shot, while threading the needle of making credible the accusations of "Uncle Tom" that the left had prepared for him, had he blown the episode off entirely.
