Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.

I felt Perry's heart just wasn't into the run the way it had to be. We saw with Fred last time that you have to have the fire in the belly. I don't know why Perry got into the race, but he didn't want it bad enough. It's a sorry statement about what presidential primaries have become, but it's a fact nonetheless.
And Romney won by destroying all alternatives who did not destroy themselves. The GOP-E sat back and let him engage in scorched-earth politics. FR had little to do with the charred remains of the GOP field.
I dont mean it in anyway to be a criticism of Jim or his stance. He is correct, its his site and if he doesn’t want to have any advocacy for MR on it then thats his call, and I dont begrudge him that.
Its just that it seems kind of pointless to me to say MR is bad, and we all know BO is bad, so lets just rehash how much we hate both and how its a no win choice for the next 6 months. Can he do it with his site? Yes, but I dont see the point. Just say its a no win choice, vote your conscience and having exhausted all possible allowed intelligent discussion on the subject, be done with it.
After the election, I would hope we would all be able to agree that we should pray for whoever is elected, as the Bible tells us to.

Oh, sorry for the confusion. I believe the official position on the presidential race is to vote third party or write in, and focus on electing conservatives to the house and senate. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong on that...at least thats what I understand Jim to say he is doing.

Don’t put your faith in any man because that’s an invitation for hurt and disappointment. There’s none good, no not one. Stay Christlike and do what you know you can and should do; leave the rest to Him. A grin seems to help along the way. A Godly companion or two sure is nice.
I was supporting Perry and trying to post in those threads and remember the venom and felt bad for CW too, but this activity was going on at other websites as well. I don't see how it would have even been possible for the admins/mods here to shut this vitriol down without taking absolute draconian measures. Remember, pro-Perry threads can be disrupted without anyone outright hurling insults or something - they can just swarm them and ask one another if they're "heartless" or post long boring screeds or something. When Perry entered the race with money and high poll numbers there was a large wave of hate directed at him on many conservative forums.
This was a unique situation and was a result of Palin's tease campaign. She had a lot of activists/grass roots types of people convinced she was going to run - and those people tend to participate on political forums. They'd been preparing for her entry in the race and Perry looked like he would be her chief conservative rival - so the Palin supporters went to work savaging him. Not blaming Sarah herself, she probably had no idea stuff like that was going on - but her "will I or won't I" tease campaign caused a great deal more damage to this cycles GOP primary process than most people understand. The anti-Perry forum hate was just one effect of it.

Thanks for the clarification. If that is in fact the official position, then I think you’re exactly right...there’s very little point in discussing the presidential race any further.
That’s my take. And other local and State offices.
Perry was sadly not at the top of his game when the dice got rolled this time.

Dirtboy, I have reason to believe his current position because I have seen and heard first hand many others who have made the same change.
One could make the argument that Mitt's current platform is far more conservative than Obama and that it's worth taking a long-shot chance even though he has a record of being a liberal governor.
That said...
Mitt is a known liar.
In my view Mitt's supposed "conversion" on abortion (and other issues) is a little too late in life for me to believe.
It's still April. Why support him now when his stinky feet need to be held to the fire, every minute of every day?
Too much is at stake this election cycle.

Perry got in late. Maybe it does take preparation of years to adequately run for president. Once again, that is a sorry statement about what the process has become. Basically, the most ambitious, the guys you DON'T want having the power, are the ones with the capability to win that power.

All of them have pros and cons, except that Romney is largely a con job.
In primary season, folks take the cons and beat them over the head of the other side repeatedly. That happened with all of the candidates. It can be self-destructive, but, then again, negative campaigning usually works - to a point.
