Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.
“Choices have consequences.”
Here’s a novel suggestion: You have a very large list/emails of people who formerly participated in a formerly conservative political forum.
Why not reinstate their accounts, email them and ask them back with an apology for being banned for expressing an opinion that may have supported a candidate that was not in favor.
That is probably the only step this site can take.
The principles of this site have evolved over time. debate has been discouraged. I doubt that even ads will save a site that is constantly paring down it’s membership to only those with approved thoughts.
If the owner, and folks trying to help him raise funds like you cannot even admit that you were wrong in the management of this site as a going concern (inability to raise funds is a sure sign of that), then it cannot be saved.
You wanna fix it? Admit you are part of the problem that has throttled donations way back.
What say you about that?
Comb through the vast list of terminated members, and see if there aren’t quite a few that were unfairly zotted for simply holding an unapproved opinion. Ask them to come back.
VERY local political activism has SOME chance of doing SOME good, imho.
. . . in some areas.
imho, At least, as people are led, they would do well to do what they can thereby.
Prayer and fasting would do far more good for The Republic, however.
Perhaps cathartic, but very sad.
Massachusetts is quit a throw from the entire U.S. what one would do in that state is different from what one would do for an entire country.
“Like you, I can understand why some feel that they must vote for romney...”
“Jim, I can live with FReepers voting for that baby killing sob but I cannot come to FR and see MAJOR LIES like have been posted in support of romney here on this thread. We have people trying to use Reagan to promote mitt... not by building mitt up to appear Reaganesque but they tear down Reagan to mitt's subterranean level.”
“ALL of you that must vote for mitt (I will not)... do so... just do not try and sell that bastard for anything other than what he is.”
Show me where I said anything about my forcing my “choice” upon you? Show me where I demand that you not vote for mitt?
Jim and I are both saying that voting for mitt and promoting and selling mitt on FR are two different things. Keep pushing mitt here as if he were something that he is not and you will be getting the Jimbo zoto award. Wishing for me and my family to come to harm is beyond the pale. I would NEVER wish such a thing upon you. You need to reread my words and think about the stone in your own eye.

Two points here. First, I don't understand the notion that these two actions are mutually exclusive. I remember when this was both a "debating society" and a place where grassroots action (e.g. protests) was organized, so I know that it's possible to do both. Second, what exactly are we "getting done"? Unless I'm missing something, the posters who used to organize real-world actions have either left or been marginalized.
I’m pushing for ABO. You say that you won’t vote for Romney is telling everyone to vote for Obama. There is a robber at your front door and you are letting him in to rob and rape your family. Simple as that. Your not telling me how to vote? Really?
What, you pinged Jim to get me the Zot? Why didn’t you ping the rest of your crew as well?
Well stated.
Please excuse the Quixication. (I missed the first pages . . . trying to see if I can reflect more wisely and learn something from this interesting thread).

This morning I received thrilling news: a joke I wrote more than 20 years ago has been voted the funniest religious joke of all time! In case you've missed it, here it is:
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump.
I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"
Northern ConservativeBaptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.
Oregon
Kansas
California
Florida
& Tennessee!
We are FR!! Unabashedly pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-limited government, pro-traditional American conservative and unashamed and unafraid to be so!!
OPEN ALL NIGHT!!
Well, I guess that's true in a way, if you have reason to believe his current position.
But you're talking about a guy who claims he has been pro-life his entire life, yet tried to run to the left of Ted Kennedy on abortion in 1994.
Throughout his political career, he has consitently changed his views to suit the office he was seeking next.
And that's the problem - we all know what Romney says now that he has sought out the GOP presidential primary vote. The question is, do you believe him? I don't, and for good reason. Namely, his history.
I think Mitt has one principle - his own personal drive for power. All others are expendable. As will be all of the principles in the GOP platform if he is elected president.
I think he would be a somewhat better president than Obama - just about anyone would. But I also think that he would case serious harm to the GOP - far more than Bush's compassionate conservatism ever did. And a Romney presidency would let the GOP-E elements in Congress off the leash.
And I just don't see how Romney wins in November. His only advantage in the GOP primary was money to hammer his opponents into a pulp. He didn't win as much as he destroyed all other alternatives. And he will not have an overwhelming money advantage in November, and he offers no compelling personal reason to vote for him over Obama - the only reason he offers to vote for him is that he is NOT Obama. We have seen that time and time on this thread - we are cajoled to vote for Romney to get rid of Obama. But for independents, you usually also have to give them something to vote FOR, and Romney won't be able to seal that deal.
It is not as linear a debate about Romney versus Obama as the GOP-E would like us to believe. The GOP-E loathes the Tea Party and reformer politicians such as Sarah Palin. They have shown last election that to them, party loyalty only applies when the RINO wins, but we're supposed to suck it up now and rally behind their loser candidate who could only win the nomination by negative advertising his opponents into oblivion. The GOP-E poisoned this well, not conservatives. And now we refuse to drink the Kool-Aid they have made with that poisoned well water. It's that basic.
You do what you wish to do and if you don't like hearing about my opinions and actions... ignore them.

And sometimes folks get LABELED
Anti-Freeper and leftist
merely because the power-mongering gestapo wannabee's hereon disagree with them or have a personal pique toward them or some other nonsense.
That is so good I can’t believe it. It is so direct to the point, so absolutely on target it is scary. I hope everybody here gets to read it and takes it to heart .
Those 1912’ers just aren’t fit to live.
I’ve made a decision to never vote out of fear again, and from now on to vote FOR something.
LOL!
Ha. Funniest joke I have seen in years. I grew up Baptist (I won’t tell you which kind of Baptist)
So tell me - do you think Reagan, had he been alive in 2010, would have gone on Fox News and bashed Tea Party candidates who won their primary elections over GOP-E favored moderates?
No.
The Reagan comparison works both ways. And the GOP-E broke party unity first, in 2010. Many conservatives on FR felt for years that the definition of GOP party loyalty was to vote for the RINO when the RINO wins. Many of them felt if conservatives did get a conservative win win in a primary over an established RINO, that the GOP-E would toss party loyalty overboard. We always suspected that was the case, but went along with party loyalty anyway.
And in 2010, our suspicions were proven correct.
And now the GOP-E wants to pretend 2010 never happened and that we should meekly and uncritically fall in behind their chosen squish who didn't win the primary as much as he destroyed any alternative to his starkly unpopular candidacy.
The GOP-E created this mess, not us. Please spare us the Reagan lectures, the 11th Commandment was ground into dust over the last couple of years by that bunch (who always loathed Reagan anyway).
