“It IS the best course IMO.”
Except for the problem that BHO is (and will do so even more in a second term) going around Congress - bypassing them altogether - when he wants to do something they don’t like. Totally unconstitutional, but so far none of them have even MENTIONED impeachment over it. Romney, Clinton, most presidents, could be blocked by Congress.
But not this one.

Thompson campaigned in 2008? I don’t think he ever left his hammock. He wasn’t a real candidate, but a place holder. I suspect the same thing of Newt. Why did he wait until Santorum dropped out? Once it was obvious his campaign was going nowhere he simply helped Romney.

‘Once his foolish supporters made the completely unvetted, untested, unexamined Santorum surge in February after his candidacy had been going nowhere fast, many of us knew the nomination had been handed to Mitt.”
This only happened after Gingrich lost in Florida. Gingrich had already proven then that he could not defeat Romney. Gingrich had to win in Florida and he wasn’t even competitive.
“They started the vote-splitting”
What state did Santorum cost Newt?
“Santorum’s candidacy was nothing but hot air”
And he carried 11 states. How many states did Newt carry again?
“endorsements from religious leaders”
So what’s wrong with that?
“their sycophantic followers who can’t think for themselves.
“
So we are bitter clingers? Sounds to me like something Obama would say.
“There was little to no intrinsic appeal to his candidacy”
Which is why he kept winning red states despite getting outspent by Romney? Santorum had the grassroots support across the country.
“There is one group of people to blame for losing this primary and those are the Santorum supporters who jumped to him out of nowhere”
No, the only ones responsible are the Gingrich supporters who handed Romney Ohio and Michigan, along with Alaska and Wyoming.
Thanks for that by the way. When Obama gets re-elected, we’ll have you to thank for it. Appreciated.

Here's Rational Conservatism; Newt finally gives up the fight for the GOP nomination, (cuz it just aint gunna happen) but joins in the fight to defeat Obama by supporting the GOP nominee, giving the country a chance to come back to her roots... Rational Conservatism - is that like Rational Diplomacy?

Thats about it huh. I just dont get it. Hes been dead in the water for months. Why now? Why not keep his word and stay in until the Convention. He wasnt doing anything anyway. This is what he called running for the last couple of months. Why formally change the label?Politicians don't like to quit, because when they do, contributions dry up and they have bills to pay.

I wish Newt, Rick, and their best buddy Mittens the best of luck. Actually, no, I don’t; I wish they would stay on the golf course and leave the governing of this country to people who actually care about it.
Now that Tom Smith has defeated the GOP-e plant for PA’s Senate seat, he’s going to get a lot of the time and money I initially reserved for the presidential nominee. Let Mittens foot the bill for his etch-a-sketch campaign.

Joe! I don't zot people and have zero control over who gets zotted and who doesn't, nothing, nada, no say in the matter.
You can petition JimRob (courtesy ping) to reinstate her, but there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.

Yes, we Conservatives are going to have to look to a single candidate long before the nomination process if we are going to stop this from happening again.

The problem is, you actually need a candidate worth rallying around....Newt just sucked less than the rest of them.

The only surprise of this campaign has been the Santorum surge though it was too little, too late to compete effectively with the Romney machine. Gingrich’s performance was entirely predictable in November 2011. So was Perry’s unraveling predictable.

Everyone on this board that was for Newt, or Santorum, or Cain, or Sarah Palin— are these people smart enough to be President but not smart enough to endorse some one? Because they all have or will all endorse Romney. Are people telling me that the candidates they would have voted for are now trying to make us vote for a socialist equal in evilness to Obama? Because if this is true no one on this board should have supported any of these candidates.
