I wonder if they rejected his resignation so they could fire him instead... Maybe if they fire him, they won’t have to pay him a severance package.

Usually it’s the other way around, fired people get severance, quitting people get to tell everybody off.

That was my thought - no severance package. I believe they were to work on what he is entitled to tonight and this came down instead.
