The ranking member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee said on CNN this morning that there’s extra concern for President Obama’s safety seeing as how he’s around people with “guns strapped on their legs.”
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) spoke with Candy Crowley on “State of the Union” about the Secret Service scandal. Cummings and Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) sent a letter to Secret Service director Mark J. Sullivan last week asking for a full accounting of the events and a history past disciplinary trouble with agents’ behavior abroad.
“It bothers me a lot because I know that there are a lot of folks who are perhaps looking for opportunities to do harm to the president or others that the Secret Service, you know, guard,” Cummings said. “And you never know what they think that is a moment of weakness.”
He was asked if he has more concerns for President Obama’s safety because he’s African-American.
“First of all, let me say I have concern about all presidents and everybody that the Secret Service guards,” Cummings said. “But the fact is that African-American people have always expressed concern to me about this president. They see, Candy, folk around this president with guns strapped on their legs. And they say, you know, how can that be?”
“And they’re just — they worry,” he added.
The congressman said he thinks the Cartagena incident was limited to the 11 relieved from duty, “but we’ll find out.”
“So, you know, you can’t, you know, legislate people not being stupid, but certainly you can uphold the high standards of this organization,” Cummings said. “Keep in mind, the Secret Service has been around since 1865, and we’re going to make sure that it remains the great organization that it is.”
This clown is worried about the secret service?
I believe that in his ham-fisted way he was attempting to construct a false meme about those radical Republicans peremptorily heading into the election season.
The fact is that the safest place for Øbozo is in the company of conservatives. There aint a one of us that doesnt wish the opportunity to humiliate him, but none of us wish him physical harm. The same cant be said by numerous factions of the left who feeeeeel that he has let them down, or double-crossed them.
His greatest fear (and he knows this) is his own people.

Well, OK I hadn’t thought of that but you have a point. There are alot of Dems who feel betrayed and watching him lose the election would make them feel like losers. If the Dem freaks harmed him they would certainly set it up to look like a racial Republican move, make a martyr out of him and guard against his pathetic legacy being shown for what it is - Obama would be a martyr of whom no ill could be spoken without the Dems accusing the speaker of aligning themselves with the murders (which they have portrayed as white GOP) The Dems would assure a better hold on power which would otherwise be hard to do following these ‘miraculous years’ when the Dems finally controlled the gov and ran the country into the ground....
>> it’s more about being Red than about being Black.
It always has been. The “useful idiots” will be hurt the worst when the “glorious workers’ revolution” finally happens because they lack the basic work ethic and skills to labor in the collective factory or farm. They will attempt to use the same tactics they used to destroy the USA (take, take, take, demand more, never contribute, resist the majority’s way of life) and the communist leaders will deal with them harshly because that same behavior becomes counter-revolutionary AFTER the revolution. Obama himself is just a tool for his masters to drive the final nail in the coffin.
And I just thought they were poll watchers.
Julius Caesar was murdered on his way to the Senate on 15 March 44 B.C. Caesar's death marked the end of the Roman Republic. After a series of civil wars, Caesar's grandnephew, Octavian, assumed the title of Emperor of Rome. The Senate bestowed the name Augustus (revered one) on him. He became Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus in 27 B.C. and ruled until 14 A.D. Augustus’ wife Livia (married 39 B.C.) was determined to make her son (Augustus’ stepson) the next Emperor and so she connived the deaths of all who stood in his way, including that of her husband on 19 August 14 A.D.
Tiberius Julius Caesar Augustus was the second Emperor of Rome (18 September 14 A.D. to 16 March 37 A.D.). Tiberius was a very reluctant ruler and withdrew from the public eye to his estate on Capri. Lucius Sajanus, head of the Praetorian Guard, assumed his role for most purposes. Unfortunately for Sajanus his coup to take over as Emperor in 31 A.D. was found out and he, along with the plotters, were tried by the Senate, found guilty, and executed.
Tiberius died on 16 March A.D. 37 at Miseno, near Naples. His estate and titles of office were left to Caligula and Tiberius’ grandson, Gemellus. The two we were to serve as joint heirs. Some ancient historians conjecture Tiberius was murdered. Tacitus the historian writes the Praetorian Prefect, Macro, smothered Tiberius with a pillow to hasten Caligula's accession. In any event, Caligula soon had Gemellius murdered and began his bloody 3 year, 314 day rule.
