Planning has begun for the 7th Annual TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot.
This years shoot will be held at Schwenkes Rifle & Pistol Range, 4407 FM 1069, Aransas Pass, TX. Which is a few miles north of Corpus Christi.
The date of the shoot is October 6th, which is Columbus Day weekend.
I have not talked to the range owner yet to see if we can cook on the range. If not, we will head over here for food & more fun. What food & who cooks has yet to be determined. Im thinking, since we will be on the coast, we should have seafood.
Several of us will be staying in the cottages at that resort. The cottages sleep 2 ~ 4 people; they are a one bedroom with a fold out queen couch. I am going to reserve four cottages so that we will have a common area where we can eat & socialize. Let me know if you want to stay in one of them.
It should be noted that a festival will be held the same weekend as the shoot.
Thats it for now . . .
I did not mean to imply that you did. I was just thinking it would save you & LuvW some $$$.
I understand..it didn’t hurt my feelings or anything. I just know how tough things are for everybody right now and wanted to offer what I have so someone else might can save a little money. LuvW can buy me a drink or a breakfast if she wants to...lol.
Gonna be fun!!
You will have so much fun you will not want to miss any more shoots.
I am hoping someone can re teach me how to shoot again. I haven’t shot a gun in a very long time but I used to be a fair shot. Hubby said I could take his old 257 rifle made in the 1930’s if I wanted or one of his shotguns. Not sure I need to. It sounds like there will be plenty of guns around to shoot....lol.
A dry airmass will settle into South Texas for much of this week, bringing a period of quiet weather to the region. Cooler overnight lows in the lower and middle 60s can be expected for the next couple of days. Afternoon highs will be in the middle and upper 80s early in the week, but increase by a few degrees late in the work week.
The guys are really great, and patient, when it comes to helping the ladies.
Some of them I pinged are not going to be able to make the shoot this year, and will be greatly missed.
Thanks TM! Hopefully someone will take me under their wing...lol.
El Roy never lets us down.
Targets? Should we bring our own targets?
We have cardboard and paper “man”-shaped targets with a stand, and bull’s eye disclose targets that are on 12X12” paper.
We have some “self-healing” toys, a disk (should be suspended) and a polygon ball (on the ground). They are supposed to take 1000 hits before they’re useless. Would y’all like to try them? The tiny ordnance doesn’t move them much, but a big, slow .45 slug makes them dance.
True that.
I'm always tickled by the great variety of hardware that shows up.
It's kind of like browsing a gun show where you're allowed to pick 'em up and shoot 'em.
I’ve got a roll of paper targets plus I’ll bring some mutant lemons that’ll perch on top of an empty can.
Dang lemons.
“Anybody” LOL
The range will supply some paper targets, but feel free to bring whatever you want. We are all open to shooting a new things.
Cool...thanks..btw...what do you do with lemon tree that has had lemons on it for months but will not turn totally yellow? My little tree is weighed down with them but they are barely yellow? Do you have to pick them and then they turn yellow? Just asking in case you know.....lol.
Whoops, not horses. I'll get him!
Do you want to shoot hubby’s early 1930’s 257 rifle? I’ll bring it if you want. The rest of the stuff we have are typical shotguns and an old 410 that kicks like a mule....lol.no need to bring those I am sure.
Sure, if you want to bring it, it’ll sure get shot! And cleaned.
The lemons? Hell if I know. Sometimes they get yellow and sometimes they don’t. Depends on conditions.
All mine are good for is cooking and shooting. Too seedy.
These are mutant lemons, though.. your lemon mileage may vary.
Shooting livestock is a big no, no.
Sounds as if you ya'll need some tannerite...BOOM! :)
Cleaned sounds good. I don’t think it has been shot in several years....lol. Maybe I will bring my sorry lemons too. They are really big but just won’t turn yellow.
That's not this year's batch though.. they is still green yet.
