Martin punched Zimmerman, knocking him down. Zimmerman told police that when he was on the ground, Martin straddled him, striking him, and then tried to smother him, wrote Beast reporter Aram Roston.
That was when Zimmerman said he shouted for help, explained the source. Some of Martins advocates have insisted it was actually the teenager who was heard shouting on a 911 call made from within earshot of the scene.
Zimmerman claimed that it wasnt until Martin noticed the 9mm pistol holstered to Zimmermans waist that the older man grabbed it and shot Martin.
Okay, you got it, Martin reportedly said twice before falling back.

Trayvon pummels him, smothers him, and tries to crack his head open.
But as soon as Zimmerman gets control of the gun and gets a round off, suddenly it's a different story from Trayvon: "Okay, you got it, okay you got it!"
Trayvon probably had no clue at that split second how serious the damage would be from the shot. Maybe there was a fleeting moment when it crossed his mind that like 50 Cent or other gangsta/rapper heroes, that he would have a bullet scar to show off to impress other wannabe gangstas with.
But as soon as the tables were turned, and Zimmerman had control of the gun, it was "okay you got it, okay you got it" demanding Zimmerman to give him a break now that Zimmerman had the edge.
Trayvon likely didn't realize at that time that it was already too late and that the one round that Zimmerman managed to get off would be enough to kill him.
If the kid was a jit, we must aquit.
Sounds like Martin did not feel any pain from the bullet and therefore thought he was ok and likely was about to get off of Zimmerman since Zimmerman now had the edge. The bullet likely went right through his heart giving him a couple of seconds of conciousness and then death.
A fool kid in so many ways.
I don’t think this is going to be like the OJ trial. I think this will come down with clear evidence.
I think the head banging, after the sucker punching...when poor widdle CHILD Tray had only a few yards to his Dad’s “fiance’s” house (don’t ya love how THAT word has been degraded?)....
It’s going to be ugly. Be prepared.
And I don’t mean that to whip things up. Just...be prepared to protect your family. It’s what you should do if your neighborhood is invaded.
Angela Corey is going to be saying "Okay, you got it" to the defense attorney by the time this is over.
Rather than me. I was trying to get it, mind you. But you got it instead. No need to shoot me again, I give.
Everything Zimmerman has said about this fight fits.
If Martin was on top of Zimmerman and Zimmerman was the one calling for help, he is clearly innocent and the charges should be dropped ASAP. If there is some evidence to the contrary, it should be disclosed to Zimmerman’s attorneys, and, preferably, made public.
Whoever thinks a ‘double tap’ with a 9mm is necessary to kill a man.. Think again. DT is a good practice, however.
I thought that the 9mm is a complete waste as a self-defense weapon — at least that’s what I have been told by the .40 bots and .45 bots.
The witness named “John” has stated that it was clearly Zimmerman who was shouting for help. There’s no disputing that, unless of course you think John is lying.
If his head was split, you must acquit!
No doubt in my mind, if M could have gotten the gun, he would have used it.
"The only good defense ammo is one that starts with a '4'"
Maybe, but shot placement counts for a lot more than caliber.
The point where I differ with you is that in the moment when someone is shot, they typically don't immediately comprehend what the extent of what happened was and how serious it was. You hear that over and over from people describing what they felt when they were shot. Often, they don't even realize that they have just been shot in those immediate moments. In the instant he was shot, I don't expect that Trayvon was thinking that he was just shot dead.
I do agree with you as the point about the struggle for control of the gun.
But as for the "struggle to the death", I think in Trayvon's mind that was only one way. As soon as the man had the edge, Trayvon fully expected him to let up, even though Trayvon had not let up on Zimmerman when Trayvon had the edge. That's the thug mentality.
We would never hear about it because a black punk thug shooting a white or hispanic person isn’t news.
You are totally right though.
Zim may have tried but the second round apparently jammed.
IMHO, the best defensive handgun is one that you will carry and practice with and be able to consistently double-tap with into a 10" kill zone at seven to ten yards. If you can do that, then there's a pretty good chance that you will be able to do what you need to do at five yards or less when subjected to a potentially deadly attack.
What I have never understood is what was wrong with Zimmerman asking Trayvon what he was up to. All the kid had to do was explain that he went to 7/11 and was headed home.
“Hey bud, could I ask you what you’re doing in here?”
“Hi, my name is Trayvon. I just went to 7/11 and am now headed home. My dad lives right down there too. Why? What’s up?”
“Well, we’ve had some crimes committed in here, and I’m a neighbood watch guy, and I’m trying to help out.”
“Oh, okay. Well I live at xxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. My phone number is xxx xxx xxxx. If you want, you can contact me whenever you like. Catch you later...”
He may have been talking to himself...
Sounds like the kind of thing I say to myself when I am hurt badly and am trying to get it together.
