We have to go with Romney because we just have too. Didn’t Dole, George Herbert Walker, George Walker, Jebbie, and Barbara say so.

Socialism may be “yesterday,” but millions in the USA support it in all but name.

Your vote for a conservative, like Gingrich, will help divert the nomination from Romney, who has never in his political life performed as a conservative.

That might be true if Gingrich were running a real campaign and had even the slightest chance of winning. But he isn't and he doesn't.

Newt has no money, is deeply in debt, is renting out his donor list, is reduced to making campaign commercials out of youtube clips, has conceded Romney is the likely nominee, and is otherwise out just tooling around having fun. Even his SuperPac sponsor(s) have long left him. Every dime anyone sends to Newt right now simply goes to help pay down his 4.5 million in campaign debt.

I like Newt and he was my second choice after Perry dropped, but at this point the reality is what it is. He has no chance of being the nominee. I'd vote for him if I had an upcoming primary, but it wouldn't change the outcome.

Naps, can I tell you how much you amaze me? I know you were such a Santorum supporter, yet you have thrown your support to Newt (just as you said you would.) I have to tell you, I don’t know if I would be as gracious as you.

As far as the general, my plan is to NOT vote for Romney unless the polling is very close in my state. Unfortunately, Obama won NC by a whisker last time (which I am positive was due to voter fraud) so I might have a big decision to make in November.

Then again, I have not given up on Newt!

Romney is a self-avowed progressive, a national socialist.

That means you will settle for an evil choice: between Romney the Fascist and Obama the Communist.

I think you know better than this.

And if I had a primary coming up in my state I’d vote for Newt (assuming he made the ballot). Gingrich was my second choice after Perry imploded, but it just isn’t going to happen.

My comment was simply a reminder that reality exists and Newt is not going to be the nominee. Period. He isn’t running a real campaign, he doesn’t have any money, he’s busy whining about Fox News which isn’t going to help him at all, and he isn’t likely to win a single remaining state. There’s not going to be a brokered or contested convention. The odds were always slim to none that would happen - now they are none. Newt is just out having fun and enjoying what remains of the spotlight while it still lasts. Most of the money people donate to him at this point will simply go to pay down his campaign debt.

You do know that a majority of Republicans do not like Romney, correct?

You do know that the majority of delegates are not committed to Romney at this point, and there is still 4 months before the convention in Tampa?

Yet you sound as though nothing can prevent a Fascist from taking the Republican Party in a direction the majority do not want to go.

You are holding on to a fantasy. Reality is what it is. Willard will win most of the remaining primaries decisively. You can refuse to accept that this is what it’s come down to, but eventually you will have to deal with it just like the rest of us.

I’m descended from a cavalry officer who served in George Washington’s army. He was at Yorktown when the British surrendered.

The British Empire was well underway by 1776, and the colonists risked everything - homes, businesses, families, their lives - in challenging the status quo. In fact, it was supposed to be impossible. But they won.

Holding onto a fastasy, you say? Like bloody Hell.

Napscoordinator is right.

Whatever chance Newt Gingrich may or may not have, he's the last conservative left standing. If someone believes they can't vote for Gingrich in good conscience, fine, pull the lever for your preferred candidate. But otherwise, Gingrich has a chance, even if a small one, and this battle isn't over until Romney actually gets the necessary votes.

IF you really want to send a message to the NRC and gopE..vote NEWT. Force Romney to fight for every delegate all the way to Tampa. Remember the Tea Party folks and grassroots voters sent a loud warning to the Republicans in 2010. This go around the establishment was prepared to teach US a lesson. Romney was their choice from day ONE. He had the backing of super pacs, Fox and the RNC.

I am telling you freepers..have you ever witnessed such confusing and rigged primaries in your life? dates moved, delegates waived aka Fla. It is critical that we do not vote for Romney IF we want all the hard work accomplished in 2010 elections to make an impact.
