Obama Once Needed 'to Take a Subway or a Bus Just to Find a Fresh Piece of Fruit’ By Penny Starr April 18, 2012
(CNSNews.com) - Barack Obama's vision as president is shaped by the fact that he knows what "it's like to take a subway or a bus just to find a fresh piece of fruit in a grocery store," Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan said last week.
Donovan seemed to be suggesting that the president had once lived in what First Lady Michelle Obama now refers to as a "food desert"--a place without a nearby supermarket. The First Lady has launched an initiative to eliminate these places.
“Why has all this work been such a priority for the president and every one of us in the administration?” Donovan said. “Because he knows what you know: He knows what it’s like to walk the halls of public housing because he’s worked there.”
“He knows what it’s like to walk the streets of some of our cities’ poorest neighborhoods because he’s lived there,” Donovan said. “What it’s like to take a subway or a bus just to find a fresh piece of fruit in a grocery store.”
Donovan also said the president had to “wonder” about whether he could “afford a college education or decent health care” or be “judged” unfairly.

According to the article, researchers set out among various inner cities and poor neighborhoods and found supermarkets in all those areas. Duh.
I’ll bet he also has experienced the thrill of smoking pot and being able to use Muslim afforded monies.

100 years ago, in Pittsburgh and all of your major cities and small towns, there were grocers, produce vendors, meat markets, every few blocks.
Why would anyone think that was a better system, with very limited choices and necessarily higher prices without the economy of scale?
Obama is a real luddite, thinking the people would want to go back to what they have rejected already by their choices.
He’s not *so* bad.
He generously allows me an average of 1 square foot of sofa surface.

Stores stock what sells... if beer sells and plums don't - then beer will be on the shelf and plums won't...
Blacks might not want to face up to their own culture... but the problem isn't that stores choose not to sell fruit. Stores choose to sell what people buy.
Yes, thats basically my approach too! Ridiculing the entire Obama Junta ios the best we can do, too bad that the GOP can’t do the same. Everytime ridicule is done publicly, the Obots ( including the media, Obama campaign and the Secret Service) become a swarming mass of media hornets, with an opposing answer, demands for an apology etc.. I worked Safety/ Security for a chain of food stores YEARS ago. They asked me to weigh the risk factors of opening a store in a city area. I spent an hour in the area, armed, nervous and listed 120 risk factors that could be seen and about 20 others that you just KNEW will happen. I kept our loss rate down around 5% (fairly bad) and estimated that if this new store was built, we’d have an 18% loss rate. In my report I actually recommended “Let them grow their own food or let them eat at restaurants/ fast food joints or the gas station with the armed guards.”
Maybe he had to get a subway or a bus to get a piece of fruit because he didn’t drive a car because he couldn’t get a licence without a birth certificate?
Yes, you may very well be right. I do not think Obama presently has a valid drivers license.
He looked kind of morose sitting on the Rosa Parks bus, thinking no doubt of a fresh over ripe banana or some such, LOL.
