HOUSTON - Deputies have taken a woman into custody in the case of a newborn infant who was kidnapped and the child's mother who was shot to death.
A capital murder charge was filed against Verna Deann McClain, 30, according to a FOX 26 News contributor. He says investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office are questioning McClain, but that she has confessed to the crime.
McClain reportedly told her sister that she was about to adopt a baby, FOX 26 has learned. She told investigators she did not know Kala Golden, 28, the mother who was killed.
An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday afternoon for Keegan Schuchardt after the infant was kidnapped at a pediatricians office around 2:40 p.m. in the intersection of Burrough Park and Sawdust Road.
Golden was placing her newborn son inside her pickup truck when she got into an altercation with someone in a car parked next to her, according to the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office. The suspect shot Golden several times and took off with the baby.

McClain (pictured right with her sister Yoki) has three children and is a registered nurse
Collecting evidence: Ms Goldens sandals sit beneath her pickup truck at the pediatricians office where she was gunned down
According to this article from ABC News http://abcnews.go.com/US/baby-keegan-schuchardt-kidnapping-suspect-facing-capital-charges/story?id=16160951 the murderer/kidnapper is 30 years old and already has three children ages 16, 10, and 6.
She was 14 when she gave birth to her oldest child. That means she was probably 13 when the child was conceived. Then she went on to give birth two more times spacing each one 6 years apart; and the youngest is now 6.
In a Houston Chronicle article, http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Woman-charged-with-murder-in-baby-s-abduction-3490769.php it states she is licensed as a vocational nurse which I suppose is different from a registered nurse.
Ms Goldens husband, Keith Schuchardt, took to Facebook on Saturday to report the birth of his son: baby keegan is here. born 4/14/12 6 lbs 15 oz, 20 inches long. he wrote. Looks like me lol.
He arrived with Keegans grandmother Linda Golden and other family members at Conroe Police Department last night to be reunited with the infant.
But the Houston Chronicle reports that police want to carry out a series of investigations on family members before he is released.
Linda Golden said: My daughter was brutally murdered protecting her baby. I think the baby should be given back to us. Weve had enough today. We would just like our baby back.
Friends and relatives have expressed their shock at the senseless crime. Friend Jennifer Hartis told KPRC: She never did anything wrong. Shes just a mom doing her best to take care of her kids.
Keegan is only three days old. Hes needs to know his mom and he cant do that now.
Henry Schuchardt, Keegans paternal father, told the affiliate he was searching for answers. I wished I knew, I wished I knew, he said. I dont know how they could do this?
Ah. Has there been a change from yrs ago in the degrees? The RN’s I know (who are over 50) have 4 yrs of college.
You cant get an RN from a community college. You need 4 yrs of school.... Today, most take six years to get out of community college. More loans, donch’a know, bro?
A licensed vocational nurse (LVN) is synonymous with a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Their day-to -day tasks revolve around caring for patients who have been admitted to the hospital due to illness. They take orders from their superiors, who are RNs (registered nurses) as well as physicians. Most of the daily tasks have to do with basic bedside care of the patients. These tasks include taking the patients temperatures and blood pressure; giving injections, changing wound dressings, and taking samples.
Maybe whites need to riot until she is executed.
And what the hell is wrong with the cops? Give the kid to his family then do all the investigatin’ you want.
Did Ms McClain have an accomplice....Yes. The Democrat Party.
I couldn’t say. All I know is that my local community college offers RN degrees in that much time. The difference may be between straight class time and one’s practicum, or hands on training, in the hospital. It seems that there are more degrees now than then, like HHA, LPN, RN, BSN, LNP, etc. It’s bewildering!
Cases where a childless woman kidnaps a baby and kills the real mother are actually not so uncommon.
Well then why did she go there and why would anyone expect someone else to pay the freight?
Yes. I see there are lots of degrees now that didn’t exist yrs ago.
Thanx.
Affirmative Action?

I’m not sure we can assume she conceived and bore the other children. She might have stolen them as well.
Yes. They dragged the mother as she held on to the car crying for her baby.
I remember a very gruesome case in Eastern Ohio around 10 years ago.
The murderer befriended a pregnant mother, then one day when she was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, she killed the mother and actually cut the baby out of her womb.
She (the perp) was quite heavy, so her friends and family were only a little surprised when she turned up with a newborn she claimed she had given birth to.
Someone got suspicious, though, and later the police found the dead mother buried underneath the floorboards of a garage, IIRC, and put two and two together.

She wasn’t childless, she has three children and she is 30 yrs. old. Her oldest is 16, then 10 & 6.
