Dude I doubt anyone on this site is going to vote for Obama and I have seen no threads supporting Obama.
Your problem is that you are supporting a leftwing candidate and you expect this website to bend over and do it too. No way. This is a conservative website.
The definition of “conservative” should not be changed to accomodate the GOP nominee’s leftwing ideology. That will be the day this website ceases to be conservative.
Here is the thing.
We are not changing our principles and beliefs just because the GOPe want to nominate a leftwing liar. We are not going to try justifying voting for THAT to be the conservative thing to do. It’s not. There is zero chance of it.
So you are writing your OPUS for the sole reason that conservatives on this website are refusing to vote for a leftist.
Maybe you should think about that.
Think about it really hard.
Do conservatives who want to move this country forward support and vote for LEFTISTS?
Because if Jim Robinson were to relunctantly relent (he won’t), do you know what would happen then?
You and other RINOs would object to anti-Romney articles, call for an end to anti-Romney articles being posted.
Then you and yours would infest pro-life, pro-gun, anti-gay agenda, anti-Individual mandate threads accusing conservatives of being pro-Obama and of propagandizing against Mittens.
There are a thousand forums that will back Romney because of the R, despite being opposed to everything conservative. You are free to go to them, why do you want to turn this conservative website into a party pom-pom waving site?
...
After you throw away your principles and conservatism to elect Romney, then what? You will have no power to move him to the right, you’ve just proven you’ll vote for anything they put on the ballot with an R, you will have no sway.
You will have killed conservatism deader than dead.
By the way, I TOTALLY GET AND UNDERSTAND AND AGREE WITH JimRob’s decision to not ‘fall in line’.
Every now and again, JR gets the Muse upon him. He waxed so eloquent in one particular message, it practically brought tears. I cannot match his wonderful phraseology, but the takeaway point was, “If our conservative and Tea Party leaders fold, then socialism — in the Republican Party form — has won. Better we who are leaders stay true, and let’s let the chips fall where they may.”
Wonderfully stated; very principled; and an utterly embraceable message.
Williams, if you are still reading this, perhaps this will counsel you as to why JR is standing fast. He’s a rare man of true principle, and I for one am delighted he runs the forum with PRINCIPLE and CONVICTION.
Can you co-exist with such a man? Yes, in your eyes, he may be causing an unintended result. But can you still respect the principles of the man, and accord him respect and deference that he is due?
how many of us are you trying to chase away?....50% of freepers?...80%?....and that is going to make you feel superior?...because you're "Pure"?...
There will be one of two people president next year, Obama or Romney. No amount of bluster from anyone on this site can change that. An anti-Romney thread is a pro-Obama thread.
Good point. That's what's wrong with Mark Levin's approach. He's said all along that he'd vote for the nominee. So Romney goes scorched earth on the conservatives knowing that people like Mark Levin are going to vote for him no matter what. As a strategy, it's foolish to tell your political enemy, in advance, you'll support him if he manages to win the nomination. You lose any leverage you might have had.
In regards to moving Romney right, that's more foolishness. Our only leverage over Mitt Romney is our votes. John McCain has proven that. That's why he only runs to the right every six years and thumbs his nose at us the rest. We have no sway over Juan McPain, and we won't have any sway over a Romney administration. He'll do what he wants within the Washington DC power structure that exists, and that isn't likely to be conservative (I'm thinking a Democrat/RINO coalition).
