Boehner Endorses Romney
The New York Times ^ | 4/17/2012 | Jonathan Weisman

House Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio formally endorsed Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential nominee on Tuesday, throwing the weight of his office behind Mr. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, roughly a month before the candidate can amass the delegates necessary to make it official.

“It is clear now that Mitt Romney is going to be our nominee,” Mr. Boehner said at a news conference that followed his weekly meeting with the House Republican Conference. “I think Mitt Romney has a set of economic policies that can put Americans back to work and, frankly, contrast sharply with the failed economic policies of President Obama.”

Mr. Boehner promised to do “everything I can to help him win.”

The numbers are NOT with Mitt

Mitt Romney must win over 60% of all remaining hard delegates to secure the GOP nomination. Surprised?

19 states still need to be heard from, and of those states 869 hard delegates are available at the state and district level (discounting the 37 total delegates available between Indiana and Arkansas, which have proportionality rules only a democrat could love). State and committee GOP delegates number about 69, which I’m throwing into my calculations as a given for Romney.

Nevertheless, Romney still needs 663 delegates to reach that magic 1144 number.

Can he do it?

Of the 11,280,792 votes cast so far, Romney has accumulated 4,595,908 or only about 41%. Typically, Romney does not garner more than an average of 44% of the vote. Santorum averaged about 25% of the vote. Even if half of Santorum’s supporters vote for Mitt, this still does not give him the necessary 60+ % to secure the GOP nomination.

I got this in an email today and would love to share it with all of you..It seems we need a new bunch in congress and senate..If Boehner has to follow the pack and vote for the other Obama then we really need to look all over to replace them in Congress..Enjoy!!!

MEET THE NEW GOVERNOR OF MAINE

In case you haven’t heard about this guy before, his name will stick in your mind!
The new Maine Governor, Paul LePage is making New Jersey ‘s Chris Christie look like an enabler. He isn't afraid to say what he thinks. Judging by the comments, every time he opens his mouth, his popularity goes up.

He brought down the house at his inauguration when he shook his fist toward the media box and said, “You're on notice! I've inherited a financially-troubled State to run. Observe...cover what we do...but don't whine if I don’t waste time responding to your every whim just for your amusement.”

During his campaign for Governor, he was talking to commercial fishermen who are struggling because of federal fisheries rules. They complained that 0bama brought his family to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for a long Labor Day holiday and found time to meet with union leaders, but wouldn’t talk to the fishermen. LePage replied, “I'd tell him to go to hell and get out of my State.” The Lame Stream Media crucified LePage, but he jumped 6 points in the pre-election poll.

The Martin Luther King incident was a political sandbag which brought him National exposure. The lame stream media crucified him, but word on the street is very positive. The NAACP specifically asked LePage to spend MLK Day visiting black inmates at the Maine State Prison. He told them that he would meet with ALL inmates, regardless of race, if he were to visit the prison. The NAACP balked and then put out a news release claiming falsely that he refused to participate in any MLK events. He read it in the paper for the first time the next morning while being driven to an event and went ballistic because none of the reporters had called him for comment before running the NAACP release.

He arrived at that event and said in front of a TV camera, “If they want to play the race card on me they can kiss my ass”, and he reminded them that he has an adopted black son from Jamaica and that he attended the local MLK Breakfast every year that he was mayor of Waterville.
(He started his morning there on MLK Day.)
He then stated that there’s a right way and a wrong way to meet with the Governor, and he put all special interests on notice that press releases, media leaks, and all demonstrations would prove to be the wrong way. He said any other group which acted like the NAACP could expect to be at the bottom of the Governor’s priority list!

He then did the following, and judging from local radio talk show callers, his popularity increased even more: The State employees union complained because he waited until 3 PM before closing State offices and facilities and sending non-emergency personnel home during the last blizzard. The prior Governor would often close offices for the day with just a forecast before the first flakes. (Each time the State closes for snow, it costs the taxpayers about $1 million in wages for no work in return.)
LePage was CEO of the Marden’s chain of discount family bargain retail stores before election as governor. He noted that State employees getting off work early could still find lots of retail stores open to shop. So, he put the State employees on notice by announcing: “If Marden’s is open, Maine is open!”
He told State employees: “We live in Maine in the winter, for heaven's sake, and should know how to drive in it. Otherwise, apply for a State job in Florida !”
Governor LePage symbolizes what America needs; Refreshing politicians who aren’t self-serving and who exhibit common sense. Sounds like someone we could use running this country!!

THE LAW IS THE LAW!
So “IF” the US government determines that it is against the law for the words “under God” to be on our money, then, so be it.
And “IF” that same government decides that the “Ten Commandments”are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.
I say, “SO BE IT,” because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.
I say, “SO BE IT,” because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.
I would like to think that those people have the American public’s best interests at heart.

BUT... YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I’D LIKE?
Since we can’t pray to God, can’t Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don’t believe the Government (Federal, State and Local) and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.
I’d like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving and Easter. After all, it’s just another day.
I’d like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving and Easter as well as Sundays. After all, it's just another day.
I’d like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the “Christmas Break.” After all it’s just another day.
I’m thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices and services would work on Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. It shouldn’t cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be .......”politically correct.”

In fact....I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God..) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day....
What do you all think??
If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the “minority opinions” and begin, once again, to represent the “majority” of ALL of the American people.
SO BE IT...........
Please Dear Lord,
Give us the help needed to keep you in our country!
‘Amen and Amen’
“I hope this makes its way around the USA several times over!!”
Let’s see that it does.

The GOP is abandoning and all conservative positions and some people will still vote for them. This will prove to the RINO’s that they can take your vote for granted in future elections.

The talk of “pressuring” Romney to the right after proving you’ll vote for them anyway, is no pressure at all. What will you threaten them with after you have abandoned your principles??

Does anyone here think that guys like Boehner will fight against President Romney’s liberal/progressive programs when he starts pushing them?

Romney will convince them that gay marriage and gays in the military is the “right” thing to do. That man-made global warming is a real threat and we must fight it. That more stimulus spending is necessary to avoid depression. That big companies are too big to fail and must be propped up by big government. That the debt limit must be increased again and again to avoid financial ruin. And he will continue borrowing for the same reason. He’ll convince them that it’s only right for the “wealthy” like him to pay more in taxes and that the government cannot afford to cut anyone’s taxes. That we must raise more “revenue” to cover the costs of government without having to borrow so much. He won’t even dream of making drastic cuts in government to reduce costs. Will admit that ObamaCare is unconstitutional and devastating to the economy, but will claim that RomneyCare (its functional equivalent) is not and will push hard through his national health care task force to impose it on all fifty states. He’ll renege on his campaign promise to make all illegals go home and come back after applying for citizenship and claim that “comprehensive immigration reform” (shamnesty) is the right thing to do. He will not lift a finger to get Roe v Wade overturned and will appoint “moderate” judges to ensure that it will not be. He will not lift a finger to defend Life & Liberty. Never has, never will.

President Romney will get his big government programs and his liberal/progressive policies through WITH GOP support where President Obama could not.

Romney to announce HE is the gop candidate this friday.

Yes, learned that last night....though I don't see it as announcement....I see it as betrayal of every voter across this nation. He's doing so without the delegate win....as if flaunting his superiority over this nations peoples.

I now put Romney exactly on the same level as Obama in every way....and some areas even worse. And as for the Gop....It's fully in the liberal hands as we cleraly see evidenced.

Well I can say one thing....I'm relieved to say I can now focus on life and preparing my homefront for what is to come. Done all I could to the bitter end.

Not even sure today if I'll vote in the general at all now after seeing the plays....Obama already has it set for votes to be counted by foreigners.....so he'll win.

And it's fruitless to imagine any of our guys will fight once we put them in place in congress. They simply lap up the feed there like little puppies....so I'll be giving some serious thought to just forgoing any further involvement in Politics. I'm pretty much done with the lot of them.

http://www.mittromney.com/issues/gun-rights Mitt claims, "As the Supreme Court recently reaffirmed, the Second Amendment protects one of the American people’s most basic and fundamental individual rights: “the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.” The Second Amendment is essential to the functioning of our free society. Mitt strongly supports the right of all law-abiding Americans to exercise their constitutionally protected right to own firearms and to use them for lawful purposes, including hunting, recreational shooting, self-defense, and the protection of family and property. Like the majority of Americans, Mitt does not believe that the United States needs additional laws that restrict the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms . . ."

http://www.mittromney.com/issues/health-care "On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Obamacare waivers to all fifty states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible. In place of Obamacare, Mitt will pursue policies that give each state the power to craft a health care reform plan that is best for its own citizens. The federal government’s role will be to help markets work by creating a level playing field for competition. Mitt will begin by returning states to their proper place in charge of regulating local insurance markets and caring for the poor, uninsured, and chronically ill. States will have both the incentive and the flexibility to experiment, learn from one another, and craft the approaches best suited to their own citizens."

http://www.mittromney.com/issues/spending "Getting our fiscal house in order has become more than just an economic issue; it’s a moral imperative. Every dollar of deficit spending must be borrowed, with the bill sent to our children to pay back. As president, Mitt Romney will ask a simple question about every federal program: is it so important, so critical, that it is worth borrowing money from China to pay for it? Excessive government spending is also harming the economy by skewing the market place and creating high levels of uncertainty. As federal funds slosh through the economy, they lift up some enterprises at the expense of others. In an environment where the government is picking winners and investing huge sums in projects of questionable value, private entrepreneurs across the economy cannot have confidence that their own investments will pay off. Aware that such spending cannot continue indefinitely, business owners also have a difficult time predicting how demand will shift from year to year and how to invest accordingly. The only recipe for fiscal health and a thriving private economy is a government that spends within its means."

http://www.mittromney.com/issues/values "Mitt Romney is pro-life. He believes it speaks well of the country that almost all Americans recognize that abortion is a problem. And in the quiet of conscience, people of both political parties know that more than a million abortions a year cannot be squared with the good heart of America. Mitt believes that life begins at conception and wishes that the laws of our nation reflected that view. But while the nation remains so divided, he believes that the right next step is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade – a case of blatant judicial activism that took a decision that should be left to the people and placed it in the hands of unelected judges. With Roe overturned, states will be empowered through the democratic process to determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate."

It's a shame that none of the above, and very little on the rest of his web site matches anything that Mitt has actually done as governor of Massachusetts. I am not quoting Romney's propaganda to try to convince FReepers that Mitt is acceptable. I assume the sensible ones will compare Mitt 2012 with the rest of Romney's long and liberal life. I'm posting it because these claims illustrate why he's able to fool a third of republicans into voting for him.

Newt is still IN this race. I will fight to the damn end for the one last true conservative standing.

Not so sure Newt's in it to win now....Romney check mates by calling it before the NRC.....which pretty much prevents this going to convention.

The most Newt can do now is keep getting his message out there....he doesn't seem to be pulling any cards to play at this point and if he's got any he better get them down NOW.

“These endorsements all sound like children dutifully thanking their maiden aunts for the pair of socks she sent them for Christmas.”

Thought that is much the truth....I don’t think anybody’s really excited about Romney....even the GOP who put him there...they’ve watched this primary and have seen Romney have to pay for every delegate in one way or another...he certainly didnt win by popularity or by his positions.

So now they know they have their hands full trying to get the voters to support Romney...cause he sure isn’t going to win without some heavy arm twisting across the nation.

Am proud saying my arm can’t be twisted....not that they’d bother...but I have a clear conscious I will NOT be supporting Romney...and I don’t care who he selects as VP or in his administration...or who endorses him over the next weeks.

The fact is if Romney wins then ANY Republican could've won. If gas is over $4, Obummer's not going to be reelected. That's why it's a shame people fell for the establishment claiming every other Republican was "unelectable." They created a fear of Obama's popularity that just wasn't warranted. Problem is if the economy turns around or looks significantly better by November, Romney is toast, but the OTHER Republican candidates would have still had a chance, because they had more to their resume than just a "a conservative (sic) businessman who understands how to fix the economy."

Witness the death of the GOP in America. Fox News is in their glory. Romney to announce HE is the gop candidate this friday.

Obviously only because they're scared Newt will surge again and deny him the delegates he need. There would be no need to pull gimmicks like this if Mitt was TRULY inevitable. He doesn't get the nomination without winning 45% of the remaining delegates and that's entirely up to the voters in the remaining 19 states.

These endorsements and calling the race for yourself (like in Iowa) only show weakness.

Like the car salesman who needs you to sign on for the deal ONLY good until closing time today!

No. Romney knows that if he is opposed all the way into the convention and someone else is nominated and a vote is taken there, the delegates will vote for someone else to be the nominee.
