OMG. This really is racism. Here is how you handle a wee bairn in tantrum: Put them someplace where they can’t break anything or hurt themselves, such as a corner, and totally ignore them until they calm down. But noooooo. This was a little black girl, so they had to arrest her. Or am I misjudging? Were the cops merely inbred, bucktoothed cretins? Or is saying that racial profiling, too? This is appalling, whoever the racist is.
Maybe they should REQUIRE holding cells in ALL the schools.
It would prepare them for the real cells they will face once they get to adulthood.
Yeah, You’re over reacting.
“Put them someplace where they cant break anything or hurt themselves, such as a corner...”
They do that. It’s called a time out room. But as you would expect; parents and others object to that “solitary confinement, isolationism and torture.” And if you don’t think a child can and will hurt themselves even while alone and in a rage, then you don’t know the state of feral youths in our schools today.
Cuffing the child is the safest and best route. And if the parents do not remove the kid from school immediately - take the kid to the police stateion.
“OMG. This really is racism.”
Are you even reading the same article as the rest of us???
Your response is complete BS!
The principal could not restrain her - was probably prohibited by law from touching her - she had already injured the principal. How would you propose getting such an out of control child to this “safe place”? (BTW - the jail cell served that purpose admirably) Your idea of putting her in a corner is foolish...a kid who will stand in a corner is not tearing things off the wall and pulling over bookcases.
She was a danger to herself and others, laws prohibit the school authorities from physically restraining such a child, in most cases, and to be on the safe side most would/should call in the police - who do have the authority to physically restrain citizens. Putting her in cuffs was probably the safest thing for her.
You would probably be screaming bloody murder if the principal put her in your precious corner and in her uncontrolled rage she hurt herself or worse.
The solid kernel that should be taken from this story - the little girl was uninjured, her classmates were uninjured, the principal, however, was injured and school (and possibly personal) property damaged and destroyed. All in all, given the damage she was inflicting, a good outcome.
What makes you think the brat will stay in the corner or respect any authority?
Well you have hauled out every single nasty stereotype you could find.
This is not racism. We do not know the history of this child in terms of acting out at school. Notice it is the aunties who comes and gets here.
This child may not come from the best home but the truth is that doesn’t mean teachers and principals have to be beat upon and have book shelves knock over onto them. School staff is not allowed to touch a chid these days. In days gone by this child (black or white) would have been in the office on suspension until the parents got there. If the child so much as blinked wrong she would have been given the old swat board.
We don’t allow that these days. The only recourse for public school staff is the police. I saw this happen on multiple occasions at the school next to my daughter’s. it was a school for emotionally disturbed children. They would kick the treaters blue. The rule was if blood was drawn or if another child was hurt then the police had to be called.
You haven’t been around public school much have you.
LOL! If they were obedient to STAY in the corner they would have been obedient to stop when told to stop. A kid like this would not stay in a corner.
Hurt themselves? She hurt the teacher, is that OK as long as she didn't get hurt?
Stop with the race card, it's at a point it's a retard statement, IMO.
It was probably due to a zero tolerance policy and a standing rule that the police must be called in in any situation that involves violence.
