I have what backwards?
I have never heard exactly what course/s he taught as a lecturer. I would like to know that. Not all courses in law school are about the Constitution yet he is always referred to as a “Constitutional Law Professor.”
You are right. Way too many Americans could listen to Obama speak for 3 minutes on taxation and simple economic effects, and then listen to Thomas Sowell speak for 3 minutes on the same subject, and probably not understand either one of them but strongly believe that Obama is the more intelligent of the two. I think most Americans are incapable of understanding most of the content of the Rush Limbaugh show. I also agree with you on the role public education plays in this, but I have no idea how to turn this around. Home schooling kids is not a solution once the adults themselves reach this level of ignorance.
What you mean “WE” Kemosabe? LOL
He was a guest Lecturer, not a Professor, and certainly not a Constitutional Professor.
Another Urban myth, like Obama’s Intelligence.
We as in this country, certainly not we as in thee and me!
BTW, the key word in my post wasn’t “We” it was “ignoranus” (not ignoramus, ignoranus)...
Off to work, have a good day my FRiend.
I actually witnessed what you described but that was at the death of Ted Kennedy, when they would re-air some of his nonsense drunken speeches. Folkes would listen to the “Song”, and when I said this is propaganda, every one around me gave me a dirty look with one guy saying “shush, this guy was a good guy, I want to listen to what he has to say”.
So, I guess the key is to make people agree with the statement before the statement is made, Obamacare style.
.... Oh, and right after Zero was elected, I saw US Army officers make speeches from LBJ and about Change in Afghanistan, emotionaly into it before the dust of elections had settled. The brainwashed are even worse in upper echelons because they do not deal with reality. As an electronics technicians, I had some pilots (the officers, not the warrant officer test pilots) still calling me a “wrench turner”. THey had no clue about the capabilities of their vehicles beyond pushing buttons, but, hey, whatever, it’s not like I was not on the job with a vast experience investigating on the reliability of the electronics and their capabilities and problems under stress of combat, reporting to Lockheed and Boeing Engineers....
THe elitists are ignoramuses...
Yes, I know, I think post #60 puts that in the best perspective but if he taught about the 14th Amendment then he can claim to have taught about the Constitution. A very small part of it and it's pretty clear that his understanding of any part of it is crap but a part of it nonetheless.
Home schooling isn't reliant on what the parents know or don't know. Almost all home schoolers use materials from outside sources, some free some not, but there are numerous curriculums available and they are not unstructured do what you want programs. There are a lot of networks for home schoolers as well.
But consider that they put "professor" in the lower case.
They're saying that he taught there -- that he was considered a teacher in the law school.
That's not really anything controversial or enlightening.
A lot of people may have read the UC statement as equating a "Senior Lecturer" with a "Professor" (capital P) and that's just not the case.
Ditto with the rest of "professor of constitutional law." (again, small c, small l).
The president likes to give the impression that he taught Constitutional Law -- checks and balances, federalism, the whole ball of wax.
In fact, he didn't. His course on voting rights dealt with an aspect of constitional law, but a rather small and specialized one.
Obama wasn't a "Professor of Constitutional Law" as some people believe, and as he likes to let them believe.
My thought about the home schooling not being a solution was more because once an adult has no critical thinking skills themselves because of their public school education, then they also have lost the ability to see what public education is doing to their kids as well, and that their kids would benefit from getting an education from some other place than the public school system. That situation is what I see as hard to get turned around once we have gotten ourselves to that state.
I see, yes, people like that are unlikely to choose to home school. Very true.
That's why I said he was "sort of" a professor. I know he wasn't a professor by normal university standards. But one has to be careful when throwing around loosely defined words and titles, because a braindead leftist might throw the U of Chi statement back at one of us with righteous indignation.
ML/NJ
you are the kind of poster that once made FR a joy.
There is a reason he’s hiding all his records. He’s not what he’s been painted to be. He’s not really smart. He is really racist, though.
Don't forget about the speech Ted Kennedy made when he passed the liberal leadership torch to BO. ...and I'm sure there were many others.
I had to go back and reread what I wrote to have warranted that kind of a compliment. I think I figured it out. Are you surprised that you corrected someone and didn't have to undergo a verbal assault for doing so? If so, I agree. This place is not the civil place I joined so many years ago.
I figured that out when Rush admitted to having done drugs. I was (and still am) his biggest fan. Yet, when I pointed out a few facts (things Rush had actually said) about his drug abuse, I got raked over the coals by someone here and I was accused of hating Rush, blah blah blah. I decided to take the conversation off the board because I felt it was getting too heated and didn't want to embarrass the person publicly because I had proof of what I was saying. So, I messaged the person privately with a link to an article that quoted Rush saying what I had said he said and the person reported me to the moderators for abuse. Ever since then, I have been very gun shy about posting here.
Thank you for the compliment.
