On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner told ABC's This Week host George Stephanopoulos that Americans are "in a much better position to deal with" soaring gas prices because "the overall cost of energy for consumers is down."

Then, in another Sunday appearance, Mr. Geithner went on Meet the Press and told NBC's David Gregory that President Obama's handling of the financial crisis has been "extremely successful" and that "history will judge what he [Obama] did as remarkably effective crisis management."

In 2009, Tim Geithner became U.S. Treasury Secretary despite the fact that his confirmation revealed that he had previously failed to pay $17,230 in taxes and interest from 2003 and 2004 and another $25,970 from 2001 and 2002.

Huh?

Geithner needs to change his preference in illicit drugs.

Is Geithner completely nuts? Does he think that anyone would believe this after paying their latest fuel bills? Or electric bills?

That is a damn lie.

FU Geithner. You don’t even pay your taxes. Who in the world would believe a word that comes out of your mouth.

My PG&E bill is says energy costs to heat and light the home are up.

“GEITHNER: ‘THE OVERALL COST OF ENERGY FOR CONSUMERS IS DOWN”

The only way that could be true is because natural gas prices are down.

And natural gas prices are down because of exploration, fracking, and a “drill baby, drill” policy instituted before Obama took office - that one we can lay on the Bush administration.

There’s no limit to the lies that can come out of these Obamanoids. The overall cost? Overall, I don’t see what the hell you’re talking about when I pay my electric bill, gas bill, phone bill, cable bill, water bill or sewer bill. Its all up. What a load of horsepoop.

My electric provider is raising rates in response to the falling demand.

Average income for a family of 4 has GONE DOWN $600 since zero has been in office...

and gas prices have DOUBLED.

No wonder this administration’s economic policies are a joke...

these guys can’t even add and subtract.

It’s very similar to saying that the overall cost of energy for people in Rwanda is lower than in the USA.

If you depress the economy enough, yes the amount of energy used does go down drastically.

And I'm sure Steffi let Timmy just lay that out there without any kind of challenge.

I could almost see him turning to the camera stating: "see - there you go America, you're too stupid to realize how good you have it"

Timmy must figure my electric bill like his taxes. Even after replacing all my 15 year old appliances with new “energy star” ones my bill is STILL higher than it was 2 years ago.

never mind the 2-3 hundred dollar bills I go through in a week.

The only reason the energy costs may be down is because the nation had a very mild winter. Nothing to do with Obama and his non-existent financial skills. The Libs got lucky this past year.

"the overall cost of energy for consumers is down."

In a sense this is true. We are spending about twice as much per gallon of gas, much more per kWh of electricity, and significantly more for many other forms of electricity because of Obama's policies. However, many households have combined due to the recession with kids moving in with parents, many people can no longer afford to drive, and we are paying in total less per person for energy because we have less money per person to spend. We are getting much less for what we spend, but the Obama White House considers this drop in our standard of living something to brag about. Considering everything else they have done to us, it's no wonder they have to twist the truth beyond recognition to make any claims that the media can pretend sound good.
