Oh, c’mon. That department was offering a service to another community who couldn’t field their own department. The $78 (or whatever it was) they were asked to pay is far less than the taxes I pay to support our local department, yet I still consider it money well spent.
Our Democrat council recently came up with the bright idea to cut one shift of police protection to free up money to blow elsewhere. They asked the neighboring town’s police department to cover that shift and were told to go flip sand. And rightly so. “Our taxpayers don’t pay to protect YOUR community.” I see no difference between the two.
