The Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Department is investigating a Facebook post by one of its captains that seems to blame the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on the "shi*tbag parents" of "our urban youth," and the "ghetto hoodie look" of young black men like Martin... I don't understand why hoodies are considered ghetto. I wear hoodies frequently, and a lot of young people wear hoodies, certainly not just young, black males. There is nothing about a hoodie that should cause one to be suspicious.

If every two-bit ghetto thug took to wearing a tuxedo, you could have no grounds for complaint if wearing a tuxedo caused you to be viewed with suspicion. The hoodie may once have been a perfectly legitimate, practical piece of apparal, but it's been appropriated as a uniform by a bad element of society, just as the word "gay" has been hijacked by the homosexual movement.
