In searching for my family genealogy, I found my great grandfather was a Civil War veteran who served in the 181st Ohio Volunteers and fought with Grant in the Wilderness campaign. His grave is proudly marked with a small plaque from the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR).

They exist, saw several when checking for names at a cemetery in Tucson a couple of years ago.
Shame the VA can’t afford to take care of living vets today....
I’ve been living in Washington state for decades and only two years ago discovered that we have a local civil-war ear cemetery. It holds the earthly remains of several MOH recipients.
