On Monday, former Arkansas governor and one-time Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will launch a three-hour radio program on almost 200 stations across the country, going voice-to-voice with Limbaugh in the noon-to-3 p.m. time slot, Monday through Friday.
Cumulus Media, which owns and operates the new program, is already pitching Huckabee to listeners and advertisers as the safe alternative to a man who has recently found himself under weeks of intense fire - not for the first time - and who some believe could be vulnerable to a challenge from someone offering a kinder, gentler conservative voice.
Our tagline is, More conversation, less confrontation, Huckabee told POLITICO. Im going to treat every guest with respect and civility. Nobody is going to come on and get into a shouting match with me. Thats just not my style.
Making a direct comparison with Limbaugh, John Dickey, the co-COO of Cumulus Media, adds, This is going to be safer from a commercial standpoint, and more respectful from a listeners perspective. I think that environment has been sorely lacking in talk radio.
While representatives of The Rush Limbaugh Show, a Clear Channel property, and its syndicator, Premiere Networks, agree Huckabee will, in fact, offer a safer alternative, they strongly reject any suggestion that he poses a threat to Limbaughs audience and enormous influence. In their eyes, Huckabee is just the latest in a long line of would-be competitors who have never been able to measure up.

Granted, I do not listen to Rush everyday. However I listen to him enough to feel safe in saying I do not ever remember him getting into a "shouting match" with a guest.
Perhaps Mr. Huckabee is referring to Sean Hannity where there are constant shouting matches and people talking over each other.
My prediction, FWIW: Huckabee going head to head with Rush will be a joke.
Huckabee is an Al Franken wannabe.
Mess with the bull, get the horn!
I wonder if he will have Wayne Dumond on as his first guest?
"More of what got us INTO this mess."
This will be a bigger wipeout than the time Jim Hightower tried to go head-to-head with Rush.
All the same, Breitbart.com should be looking into any possible connections between the Huckster and Sandra Fluke.
Rush hardly ever has guests. It’s all Rush and his callers, all the time, and no shouting. Must we assume Huckabee and his promoters have never listened to Rush? I’m not about to switch.
Having Mike Huckabee on the radio is just another good reason to make sure your iPod is full of good music and a few choice CDs are close at hand.
LOL, good luck with that, Mike. The Merv Griffin of Fox....
Huckabee??? |
Huck has had good programs here and there almost solely because he has the sense to bring on good guests.
And maybe, play the guitar with them...
I’ll tune in to Huckabee if I feel like taking a nap.
They should call it O’Reilly Factor Radio.
I don't care to listen to warmed-over PC laced decorated with a few strands of conservative one-liners. That is the very reason Mark Davis got canned from WBAP. Everybody had just had enough of condescending smugness and him pitching softballs to liberals.
.
Translation for those of you in Rio Linda ---- BORING!!!
Finally conservatives will have an alternative to the RINO Limbaugh. /o.O
Huckabee, for people who don't want to think.
Huckabee, for people as dumb as Delbert in ‘Oh Brother Where Art Thou’.
“Im going to treat every guest with respect and civility. Nobody is going to come on and get into a shouting match with me. Thats just not my style.”
How often does Rush have guests?
This article is just dumb.
No thanks, his too nice and too PC style would bore me.
